So a person, just a few days ago stated the following:
" I show respect by showing up, not in other ways ".
First my make on this statement:
99% who say this deserve a punch in the face. This arrogant statement simultaneously pumps the ego and diminishes the other person.
My short take about showing respect:
I agree the you show respect by showing up, you can't show respect by not showing up in any form. But that doesn't mean that you are allowed to disrespect the other person while executing your " showing respect ".
Example:
For a holiday you need to visit a close relative. The relative asks you when you will come ( the same relative has to visit other relatives ) and you tell them "I'll get there when i get there". That's disrespecting the relative's time.
I don't believe you can show respect if you act from a position of power.
