Can you have a drinking buddy of the opposite sex?

I have, it's one of my advisors at the town hall. We often go out for drinks after work, but also during work as well lol.
It's a strictly platonic friendship though, as we are both married.

For those who think it could be a "compromising" situation, again I reassure that it's a friendship and nothing more.
I like the fact that she doesn't judge me for my habit and understands it's a necessity given the times we are living in. It's a way to unwind from all the pressures we are subjected to.

I think it’s one of those things depending on the person and location..
See if it’s a coworker or someone you have a mutual friend in common perhaps stopping you going ‘wild’ and it’s at a bar outdoors and that’s it then sure as you are likely to have more boundaries.


If it’s a casual environment like after a party then you happen to chill at their house a few hours drinking then I think he most likely (but also the female) will need to have a lot of self control unless one is very unattractive as alcohol can erm alter sexual behaviour a lot..

Oh, yeah. My best friend and drinking buddy is a guy in a committed relationship with two kids. I'm single and childfree.

Our relationship is entirely platonic, though we do have some chemistry - but he's really not my type. He has children, that's an auto-no for me.

Our relationship has progressed to kinda sibling like - I'm aunt to his two kids.

I really enjoy having drinks with him. I wouldn't have been able to get through this last year without him, and I've helped him through rough patches, too.

Yes, I had a female friend who was really my best friend for a while. We used to go out drinking a lot. There was a restaurant where you could get a steak dinner and all the beer you could drink. We used to go there sometimes and the results were just what you would expect.

Because of economical and sociopolitical factors, plus she's the only person whom I genuinely trust and with whom I have a true sense of mutual friendship and camaraderie.
