What does it mean if your friend acts distant but still follows you on social media?

Maybe I'm overthinking, but my friend has been acting a bit distant lately. But she said, a few days ago, that "everything is fine" and that she had just been "busy" for X reason. Maybe it's true, maybe it isn't, but she's acting distant. She now takes a few days to reply, and she once left me on read (that was before she told me that "everything is fine").

But she's still following me. Why is that? If she were mad or didn't want to hear from me anymore, she'd unfollow me, right? She has unfollowed like 35 people recently, but not me (and I'm quite recent on her following list)? Why? Does she still care about me/want me in her life

Ooh, yeah this sounds familiar. There’s two routes that this goes.

1.) She’s just wants to be left alone right now and that’s okay! It might not be a personal thing and she just doesn’t feel like talking. This is the better of the two guesses

2.) She just doesn’t enjoy talking to you much. Which may sting, but that doesn’t mean she wants you out of her life. She probably cares about you enough to still consider you a friend to follow but not enough to be someone she has the drive to talk to. There’s not much you can do here. Just recreate the vibe. Don’t talk or initiate conversation as much and if she wants to talk, she will! But if she doesn’t, cut your losses and find a new buddy

The thing is, last week, she initiated 2 conversations and when she realized that I wasn't much available, she asked me to let her know when I'd be free to chat, watch a film or whatever. :/ So I don't undestand why she's now acting distant. I feel like I might have hurt her by being too unavailable lately or by responding a bit late (only hours) to some of her messages (though, she sometimes takes days to reply haha). And yeah, we've been talking for 7 months and she did initiate a lot of conversations (not as much as me, though, but she still checked up on me a lot of times).

Anyway, just like you said, I have currently stopped talking to her. Two days ago, I sent her an invitation (over text), to spend time with me (just like she had suggested a week ago), and she still hasn't read my message... so I'm not even going to double text her. I'll just let her reach out to me whenver she feels like it... :
