My 6mo has mad separation anxiety, what should I do?

My son (6mo) cries every time one of his favorite people (dad, grandma or myself) leave the room, even if he's being held. He's always been "cuddly", as the nurses would say while we were both under routine observation after his birth, but this whole "crying when I can't see grandma/dad/mom” is new.
We have to distract him when someone else leaves the room or hear him screaming. When we're (baby & I) alone with him the only option is to hear him scream so I can use the potty, sometimes I bring him with me & put him in one of his chairs, but I try to leave him alone most of the time.
Grammie watched baby so daddy & I could have a date night, it was very close to bedtime, and my mom said he freaked out when we left. She said he would cry for a few minutes, stop to look around to see if I would come get him & did this several times before he seemed to come to terms that he was alone with Grammie.
It's worse closer to nap & sleep times.
Any advice on how to curve his separation anxiety?

Sounds normal, and like he's testing you. That he checks to see if you'll get him indicates he's seeing what he can get away with.

Stick to your guns.

Kids don't know what they're feeling innately. They feel things, but don't know why or what it's called. This includes separation and insecurity. Crying is a release of energy and emotion, so it's understandably a default.

I'm not a parent, and parenting skills are also not innate. Seek out support groups, a children's counsellor, and read books on how to raise kids, etc.

But it's normal. He's 6mo, he's gonna be upset when mommy isn't around.

This is normal and is only gonna get worse until about 18 months they get a little better. Right now my 10 month old only likes me. Cries with anyone else even his dad holding him so it's impossible for me to do anything without him. I'm just gonna enjoy it tho cuz one day when he's a teen/adult he'll want nothing to do with his mama

He needs a pediatric visit. This may be physical in origin.

It's completely normal and indicates a healthy attachment if he is distracted after a short while.
Think of it like this, he is learning that even if people leave they will come back, and of course its scary in the beginning, has has no idea! But as time goes on he will learn and get more reassuraned that you will be back. He is learning.
Just sooth and comfort with words. It's healthy :)

But five minutes after you leave, your baby stops crying?

My babysitter told me that 5 minutes later my baby was laughing and playing.

According to my mom he cried for about 10 minutes, would stop to look around to see if I would "rescue" him, start crying again & did this several times for her.

He doesn't like the pacifier. He doesn't even suck his thumb.
