Which is worse having a baby too early in life or too late in life?

Too early meaning teens-23 age range. And to late meaning 38-50 age range. Anything in between that I'd consider normal age to have kids.

in my opinion seems worse to have them when old since you'd get less time with them, never meet your grandkids and never get to enjoy retirement. Also just seems really difficult to care for a baby/toddler at thay age. Maybe I only feel that way tho since I had my kids when young so older seems kind of crazy to me.

So what do you guys think is it worse to have kids when you're younger or older?

In today's society, you would be lucky to have a baby young with a loving partner, considering most people are just finding life-long partners in their 30s on average.

I feel like it is better to have a baby early because they, as children, can grow with you. For example, if you want to renovate an old home, your child can help with ideas, painting, and so on, which can be nice to cherish because it can be more memorable when more family members you care about are a part of making your dreams/goals happen. Also, if you have a young child, you benefit them by spending more of your life with them, and the child's grandparents and family will have an opportunity to spend more of their lives with them.

Controversially, I feel like people should not be allowed to have sex before age 24 because 24 is the age when people's brains start to stop developing. The last part of the brain that stops developing is the part that makes you think about your actions before you do them, like mistakes. Therefore, some who have sex before the age of 24 will not think about the consequences of an unwanted child, and because their brain is not fully developed, they will not be mature enough on average to take care of the child in the best interests of the child. Banning sex before 24 would be better than banning children born by a mother before 24 because a mother would have to go through the pain of losing her baby. Abortions are expensive, and the government would have to pay for them if they banned children born from a young mother.

To conclude, having a baby is worse earlier because if the mother is under the age of 24, she is mentally not mature enough to make the decision whether having a baby is a good idea as well as make a decision in regards to how she will bring up the child.

I must be lucky then cuz I got married and had babies young.
And even tho the brain isn't developed till 25 for women. It changes a lot during pregnancy and makes the mother mature and change so she's ready to care for the child

I agree with Apple1996, 24 is the PERFECT age to have children. Actually they say and I read that all through out your 20's, not much will change for a woman biologically in terms of having children. It's when the person hits their mid 30's (35 and older) does it probaly become a little harder to conceive and to give birth. Granted I have never had kids (wasn't "lucky" enough I guess, to meet Mr. Right at an earlier age, plus I lost my V card at at a late age of 28 during a one night stand lol), But anyway, I disagree with you in that if you have them early it's better. I don't agree with the reasons really, that they can chime in with the room decorating decisions (because they may make the room polka dot PINK or have Transformer colors everywhere lol. Hey, lots of kids go through phases so... and I used to be one so I know!). I think it's better to have them earlier because your body recovers from pregnancy (heck your body recovers from general sickness and injury faster too) at a younger age. It's also way easier to conceive when you first start menstruating! Gotta thank that cervical mucus stuff haha. Biology and modern society (where people are OBSESSED with getting their ducks in a row and making above 60k to 70k a year and or having a HOUSE or whatever, FIRST, getting married to Mr. Handsome and not to mention traveling the world, before having kids). .. They just don't mix!

Having children is better early in that they do grow and experience life with you, but not those little things you mentioned hehe.

I never did either. I am not diabetic (I thought I was but a recent blood test thankfully showed otherwise). I didn't know that being diabetic could suck your energy. My father is diabetic but he still makes a point to exercise and play tennis at least once a week with my uncle. He's 70 now. I think it's manageable. Good luck.

It depends. They have different consequences.

Socially, I would say having a child too early is worse. Reason being is that the mother is not mature enough to make the best decisions for herself or the child at that point in her life, and is still somewhat dependent on her parents. However, there are very low underlying health risks for the child, unless there is family history that states otherwise.

Biologically, having a child at an age closer to menopause is a serious health risk for the child, and can potentially lead to several aneuploidy disorders, most likely trisomies (where the total number of chromosomes in a human karyotype is more than 46 due to an additional chromosome). An example of that is down syndrome, which is 4.5 times more likely to occur when maternal age is between 35 to 39, and over 15.4 times more likely when the age is over 40.

Now having said all of that, of course there are exceptions to every rule. However, when we look at these effects, we care more about trends rather than statistical anomalies. Is it possible a very young, presumably single mother will be a successful parent without them having any psychological problems? Yes it is possible, but unlikely due to how stressful that situation is. Is it possible that a woman in her 40s can give birth to a healthy child? Absolutely, but the risks are also to be taken into account. At the end of the day, the best age to have a child for a woman is most likely between 25 to 34, depending on her marital status, socioeconomic status and a host of other factors that are to be taken into account as well. 1 to 2 years earlier or later wouldn't affect the range by much, but if you add or subtract 5 or more years, then you will start to observe the issues I mentioned.

Well, if we set aside all the financial issues that pertain with having a baby, then the obvious answer here would be having a baby late, and anyone who's saying early, really don't know what they're talking about nor do they have any inkling of how the human body functions.

When a woman is younger, it's obvious that her body would be way more fertile. She can not only conceive much more easily because her ovaries are still healthy, producing healthy and fertile eggs, but also because she'll be much more healthier physically as well, and for the most part, wouldn't be bed ridden and having to depend on others for trivial tasks like walking her to the bathroom or passing her the jug of water that someone stupidly placed across the room.

Not only that, but the baby born will be much more healthier as well. Older mothers who give birth later on have been reported to having babies be born with slight mental and physical difficulties. Plus, older moms also have the risk of giving birth to still-born children (kids who are born dead) and have a higher chance of dying in child birth as well

My mother had me and my two older siblings before 23, (my father was 50). We are all physical specimens. My brother got into athletics when he was 28 and managed to run track for England. We all have IQs above 130.

My mother had my younger brother when she was in her late 30s. He isn't physically gifted. Has locked knees and was never the best athlete in his class. His main advantage was having 3 older siblings that love and pour into him all throughout his development.

He isn't as confident or as naturally well spoken as his elder siblings either.

Im very proud of him though and consider him my son as no one has put more into him growing up than me.

Younger siblings are never as confident. I'm the youngest of 7. We tend not to like center of attention/end up being shy and not as physical but more creative. Not sure if that's cuz birth order or possibly something like having older parents

Like I said no hate to your parents but 90% of the time a relationship with that age gap will fail. Even just a 5 year age gap is 20% more likely to divorce and keeps going up every year. Age gaps aren't healthy and aren't normal.

A woman's body is probably more able to recover from childbirth at an earlier age. As a parent. You are more able to physically do things with your child.

Most mothers nowadays who give birth are women in their 30s. Most common age of motherhood is 30s.

Im 27 and im planning on having kids by the time im 32 to 34 regardless if i end up finding a husband or not. Im planning on looking for a coparent or going to sperm bank. You can find a husband any time in life but you can't have kids at any time in life.

All it takes is proper planning and you will be alright. Only problem is that many people do not plan and they end up regretting it once they get older.

You're right, I didn't really plan my life well and so yes, I do have regrets, but it's not like I could have controlled EVERYTHING that happened to me in my life! I WISH that life was that perfect. I graduated college (with an associates degree) at 24, but not a Bachelor's. I also learned in life that you can always go back to school at ANYTME, but like we both said, you CAN'T just have children at anytime. Unfortunately, that's not how our bodies work. You're smart. However, if some of your plans don't work, you can have a plan B maybe or something. ... I think I LOVED (pleasant? !) surprises too much that's why I didn't really plan my life out like that, earlier. Plus, I just thought that finding Mr. Right and getting married and having a family would just naturally happen! I didn't have a SPECIFIC plan for it, which I probably should have.

That said, it didn't help that I lost my virginity at a much later age than average (at 28) through a one-night stand lol. Sorry that got personal, but I just wanted to add that in because that was also a contributing factor as to why I still don't have children at 38.

Finally, I like your goal in that it doesn't matter if you are with anyone at the age you want to have children. Maybe I should have done that.

As far as a career went, I always just usually worked at low paying jobs and so sadly, I wasn't able to truly save up for big expenses like a pregnancy or my own home, etc.

Money is too high of an importance, at least that is what society is always saying. Even my dad said that to me in my 20's, so that scared me. What 20-something year old makes 60k or more per year (the decade that is usually the best time to have children)? ! Anyway, I'm rambling haha.

Money is very important. I grew up in a popr family with parents who struggled to raise me. Trust me, you will suffer raising kids that you cannot afford to raise. You will be so frustrated, worried, sad, life will have so many problems. Your kids will also find it 10 times harder to succeed in life compared to other kids where their parents actually have the resources to raise them well. I was raised by parents who didn't have the resources to raise me, i know what it is like very clearly. And i am still partly suffering from it.

There will be times where you have to go to work to pay your bills but you can't because your kid is sick. Your employer threatens that he will fire you.

There will be times where you have to pick between keeping your job or taking care of your child.

There will be times where you can't afford to hire a babysitter when you desperately need one.

There will be times where you're so tired that you can't even move any more and you still have to finish your shift then run home to cook clean tutor kids on homework, grocery shop.

After years of this, you grow unhappy. Regardless of how happy you intially were

Thats a clear sign you dont have enough money to adequately support children. Guess what? Your kid might not even want to enter a trade. Trade work is not for everyone. While all the other kids get plenty of options on who to become, your kids might be forced to do something dangerous and dirty or a job they hate for the rest of their lives.
Otherwise they will be condemned to a broke life of suffering under poverty.

Trade school is not cheap either. If you have to send all 4 to 5 kids to trade school.

I personally grew up in a family under poverty. Growing up under poverty is a form of child abuse. No kid should grow up with not enough food to eat or having to eat crappy unhealthy food. No kid should be abused or yelled st or screamed at by frustrated bitter single moms because her life is just soo hard.

Mosr cases of domestic violence actually occur in single parent homes, not two parent homes. And the reason is obvious: single parents are more unhappy bitter and frustrated with their lives. So the kid ends up being abused me.

It also happened to me as a young child. Broke parents are under significantly more stress. These parents will be less patient and yell scream shout or beat their children over the slightest things.

are you gonna force your kids into a life of misery just so they can survive?
Just because you want to go into a field, it does not mean you will be good at the job. You need to pick something that you are good at otherwise, your days on the job will be limited. I knew of a guy who spent 5 years studying accounting, he graduated with a bachelors degree. He was a terrible accountant. He ended up having to switch fields. People asked him : why did you get into it? Because my mother wanted me to get a job and she said accounting was a great field. He personally had no interest in accounting. He was also a terrible accountant.

I'm gonna give you a personal life story of how being broke really affected me.

Once upon a time, I worked a job for 2 years to pay for nursing school. It was 25k that I took 2 years of hard work to save. My parents could not afford to pay anything for me. I personally had to wait 2 extra years to start nursing school.

Shortly I began nursing school, I realized that I didn't have a car to travel to my clinical internship locations (where they held clinical classes). I had to attend them otherwise I will not graduate. My parents were always broke and relied on walking or the bus to get around.

The Problem was that no buses went to any of these state locations. The only way for me to get to class was uber. It was over a hundred dollars a day to UBER to class on a daily basis. But later on there was a really nice classmate who offered to drive me 40 minutes to the train station on a daily basis so I can get home.

One of my other classmates who also didn't have a car, he walked 12 miles on foot just to get back to the train station.

Without a car, it took me 3 hours to get to school in the morning. I woke up 4:30 am to get to school by 7:30 am. All my other classmates, who drove cars, woke up at 6:30am to get to school. It takes me 2.5 hours to get home. I spent about 6 hours a day commuting to and from school on a daily basis, which took away so much of my study time and leisure. I lacked sleep because I had to wake up so early in the morning.

My parents used to walk 10 miles to bring me to elementary school. Then walk another 10 miles to go back home from school.

Don't put your kids throughout the hell that I went through. Its not fun. And if you still to pretend that money does not matter, its because you do not care about your children

I never learned how to drive because my parents never had a car. I ended up having to pay 120 dollars for a 1.5 hr lesson with a driving school. At some point, I ended up not being able to afford driving lessons any more because it was too expensive. Then I had to personally save up to buy my own car in order to learn how to drive. With insurance rates soo high through the roof because I was still only a learner permit driver.

I'm sure you can see right now why its a million times harder for a poor kid to succeed compared to kids of financially well of parents.

All the kids who study at medical schools and law schools and ivy league schools come from parents of financially adequate means. None of these kids come from an impoverished background. It takes money to become a doctor or a lawyer or attend an ivy league school.

depends, i think having one too late in life for women is too risky in terms of the kid having developmental problems. it’s really hard on teen moms but they baby is more likely to be healthy and the mom has the rest of her life to bounce back financially. You should really do more research then cuz I've had fertility doctors tell me its mid to late 20s is best time health wise for pregnancy. Teen moms die more cuz their bodies aren't developed enough to give birth. I had issues with my oldest cuz of the way my uterus was positioned since I was still a teen

Evolution at this point doesn't matter considering the way girls hit puberty and develop are much more different then ever before. It use to be the norm for girls to start puberty at 12-13 now it's more like 8-9 so it isn't giving their body time to grow without hormones. You are only thinking about caring and maintaining the child when the pregnancy is too late. But there are other congenital problems that can occur. The risk of a problematic baby goes on increasing the more you delay your pregnancy.
