Why do people feel it’s necessary to point out my height all the time?

I’m a 5’9 female I’ve been tall ever since I was 11 years old I’m 23 now and the comments still don’t ever stop. Strangers stop me in the street to ask me how tall I am, I get “you’re really tall” comments all the time. People especially men say “5’9? Nope I’d say around 5’10 or 5’11” some people have even guessed 6 foot. A guy asked me a work if I was wearing heels behind the counter all shocked. I don't know if it’s just me but when I see another tall girl I don’t feel it’s necessary to point out their height.. I hate the attention my height brings I wish I was around 5’6 honestly not short not tall either..

Your height intimidates short guys, and honestly, makes some of them feel like less of a man. I'm short myself (180 cm), so I know that feeling. Not to mention, women of all heights treat us short guys like absolute sh*t, and the assumption is, you will too (although in my experience, tall girls aren't as mean as short girls). We get crap like this.

I don't think 5'9"/175 is that tall for a girl, though. To me, it's the bare minimum for a girl to be tall. My ex was 6'3.5"/191 cm; taller than her dad by an inch, and she was a little insecure about her height too.

5'6"/167 cm is short AF, though. Even for a girl. If you want to be truly short, you should've said 5'4"/162 cm. However, there's nothing wrong with being a slightly tall woman. I think you just need to not come off intimidating or make short guys feel inferior (unintentionally).

I have a secret theory about men saying this: they want to say you're taller than you are because they are insecure about their height and want to claim they are taller than they really are.

So if they are your height, if they say you're 5'10 then that means they too are 5'10 and not 5.9.
