Why dont people respect me?

Im an easy going happy go lucky girl, I dont get angry, be rude or raise my voice - i try to always think of other people befoe myself and i tend to over apologise - i try my best to be kind towards everyone, but why do people take advantage of this kindness and overstep my boundries, and do not show me the respect they show others

Maybe you're around the wrong kind of people. Or maybe, you're not respecting them first (since respect is earned, not given). It depends.

I often reflect on my own actions, i know i can be quite defensive when verbally attacked, but other than that i treat others how i would like to be treated - with decency, kindness and respect + its just a few people in particular who treat me this way however, treat other people with respect - but other people seem to treat me fine.

Because you allow it, that’s why. You can be the kindest soul under the sun and still be able to advocate for yourself by maintaining boundaries. If you won’t respect yourself enough to require it from others then there’s nothing else to do but get comfy being a doormat.

With your thought process, speaking up in general is rude. Having a conflicting opinion and saying no amongst other things will also make you feel like you’re being rude. That’s because you’ve gotten yourself to a place where being anything other than agreeable is too confrontational or conflicting. I know you can’t flip a switch and behave differently, but you have to start somewhere. Like if someone asks you to do something that you either can’t or don’t want to do, then push yourself to say no. They wouldn’t question your “yes”, so why do you need to justify your no? Start there and soon you will have healthy boundaries set that you can unapologetically uphold.

Anyone that apologizes about everything is not going to be respected. Sorry for something that you did not do is not respectable.

I too, know it is true but "want to be acceptable" and/or "weak-minded-this one".

When we choose not the option before us... we have chosen. By not choosing, to refuse the option before us, we have made a determining. So, in every Determined action there is Choice... for when we Ignore then we Choose.

Yeah a lot of the time its easier to brush off things and get annoyed by them when your by yourself rather than confronting the person who has has made you uncomfterable

Never neglect your ability to walk away and ignore people who don’t respect you don’t deserve your words, your gaze or your time

Disrespectful people don’t deserve respect
People who deserve respect will respect you
