End a friendship from needy friend?

Hi guys

I have a friend who is only friends with me maybe 8 months. He was contacting me too much so I had to ask him to stop (nicely) but he is older and I think lonely. If I am extremely honest I don’t want to be friends :( but I am having trouble cutting him off. He text me even if I tell him wait for me to text him. He asked me to meet up with him and I genuinely do not want to I feel guilty but I can’t be friends out of guilt it’s not fair to him or me. I kind of hoped he got the hint when I asked him to stop texting but he didn’t I think he is so lonely he doesn’t care what he looks like.
I even stopped going on to my WhatsApp as I know he stalks my status I text my friends on normal texting.
I am in a relationship a good 10 years younger than him and I just don’t want him as a friend. Please help

The fact I asked him not to text me wait for me to text me then a week later he texts again just makes me feel he’s strange as I would never text someone who would say that I’d get the hint

Honestly just block him on everywhere he can reach you and then move on.

I feel bad though :( I know I wouldn’t like that, and I also wouldn’t like to be told ‘hey I don’t want to be friends sorry’
So I don’t know what to do I feel bad but at the same time I can’t be friends with someone just because I feel sorry for them right?

Exactly, you can’t be someone’s friend out of pity. You may feel bad to cut ties but there are gonna be things you have to do in life that make you uncomfy, but it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. For instance, what if this guy is some sort of weird stalker and cutting him off could save your life?
