I’m 25 and I just feel so low about myself. I’ve always been called dumb and slow. It bothers me so much. I’m not good at much. Guys don’t want to date me and people just don’t like me..

Every time I get into an argument with someone they call me dumb and degrade me in some ways… I got into it with a cousin and he said that “no one wants to hang with you bc you’re so slow” that really hurt

Well you don't sound dumb.

Even if you are beating yourself up about it is not at all helpful.

Mostly what you need to do is learn to love yourself, I suggest that you look up self love and validation etc, there millions of videos about this stuff on youtube so find someone who's style you enjoy.

You could learn about logical fallacies and critical thinking etc, this will help you to make the most of whatever you do have between your ears (don't underestimate the power of this, knowing how to think makes a huge difference).

For example everyone might be telling you that you are stupid, but that doesn't make it true, it is called an argument from popularity and it is not valid. It is still possible for you to be stupid, you are human after all and rest assured that even the brightest of us does really stupid things all the time, but if you are that would need to be proven with evidence and a sound argument.

I have a friend who is very clever and yet twice now on the rare occassions where it has happened he has been completely defeated by the operation of the keys in my door because they are horizontal, not vertical. So he is just there spinning the key around like a monkey scratching his head and not understanding why he can't pull the key out even though it has clearly locked or unlocked and is in an upright position.

Almost everything that we do that seems clever is infact just learnt.

I am terrible at art and very easily impressed.

So yeah, mostly you need to cut out these negative voices from your life, either by actually removing them or simply by ignoring them and developing the inner strength to form your own opinion of yourself.

When someone tells you that you are dumb you don't have to internalise that and start repeating it to yourself, what it is is an invitation for you to feel bad about yourself which you absolutely do not need to accept.

If a 3 year old told you that you were a poo poo head it is unlikely you would take that seriously, it is no different when anyone else does it, it is just easier to see with the 3 year old.
