Why someone would take advantage of your vunerability?

I suffered from depression and anxiety. I was minding my own business when I was stopped by a Indian man in public. He gave me a paper and i took it , then he carried me inside the room.

When I went inside the room , I saw the wall was decorated with indian stuff like mother laskmi. They wanted me to participated where they figured out my life by my body language. I paid the people 20 dollars for participating. Then they asked me my wishes in my life. I told them I want to be happy and successful no matter what obstacle got in my way. While i was still in the room, they asked me to say a spritual prayers. I didn't want to do the spritual prayers, but they insisted if I wanted to be happy and successful. So I say yes and they carried me into a next room.

Upon reaching inside room, I saw the wall was dirty and a man was sitting on a beer case. Then they wanted me to paid 900 dollars for more than one spritual prayers and services. I told them I didn't have the money, but they suggested I paid them some of the money and come back later and paid them the rest of money So I told them i wasn't paying them 900 dollars. Next they asked me to gave me whatever money I had in my phone; I told them I have bills to paid. The other guy who was in the room keep saying to me I always have bills to paid. Then he suggested I did one spritual prayers and gave him 300 hundred dollars. So I let them to do the prayers and I paid them the money. They gave me a small bracelets and then I left the room where a woman carried me outside of the room.

I went my own way, then I came back to the place and told them I didn't trust them, and I wanted my money back. They refused to gave me back my money because I already did the spritual prayers. Then they gave me another items and tell me to be happy, and their prayers would answer all of my problem and cure my depression. Then the same woman escorted out of the room.
