Why is everyone trying to be "cool" and "young"? It seems everyone is going through an existential crises?

I've noticed that mostly everyone wants the least responsibilities and to live like college students. I've even noticed that lady Kris Jenner has her own fans of women who just want to be cool. Now you have siblings who are jealous of other siblings and it's as if their competing on who will have the coolest life. You better not have any kids because now you're not cool anymore, I do believe there is a competition between siblings going on which is why people aren't having children anymore. I've seen it personally with the older siblings that are getting older trying to keep up with the younger siblings. They are not having children because there younger siblings are living their young lives and they don't want to get old. Don't get me started on ageism because it's all over the place. Do we blame social media?

Cool?
Cool is an absolute term even though it is a nebulous reference without any one true definition.
This term does not correlate to Weather or Thermodynamics.
It is not a reference to relative temperature as to degree or gradation.
Ever person has their own perception or reasoning to access if someone is or is not cool.
You are either cool or not cool.
This is not your decision. Only others can determine if you fall into their category of cool.
You cannot be sort of cool because if you are then you are not cool all of the time thus being not cool because to be cool you have to be cool 24-7/365.
If you begin to think that you are cool you have taken an irreversible step away from coolness.
If you know you are cool then you are absolutely not!
The only way to be cool is to be cool while not having any idea that you could ever entertain the idea that you might ever be cool now or in the future.
Even if you were actually cool by consensus yesterday, you can wake up and be not cool for absolutely know fathomable reason.
The pursuit of cool is antithetical to being cool and can cause permanent irrevocable un-coolness.
It is easier for things to be cool than for people to be cool. People do things to be un-cool and things do not.
It is better just to be yourself, and hope for the best.

So far off the mark..

1. Cool is relative, what some people consider cool, others consider stupid.
2. Trannies aren't cool to any sane person, they are mentally ill.
3. Most people want the best life for themselves, that will always be the case.
4. Most adults are having kids, and most kids of every generation were unplanned accidents, we need MORE people thinking about the consequences before humping, not less, there are too many broken homes.
5. No one wants to be unhealthy, and it has nothing to do with social media, siblings, competitions, or even getting older.
6. No one wants responsibilities, people do them because they have to.

I don't ever want kids, and it has nothing to do with "being cool" or "competing". I just don't want to deal with all the negatives involved with childcare.

Seriously though, I think you are right about sibling rivalry. My older sister used to brag about not having kids, until I had kids. She changed her mind, but not because she wanted to be a mother. She wanted the attention from our mother that she was competing for when our mother started spending more time at my house.

I noticed my mom did the same when my sister had her babies. I was so occupied in my life plus I love kids that I didn't really care. My sister has always said my mom prefers me because I'm the youngest. I always make sure to tell my sister that she loves us both. I think with social media the sibling rivalry has ramped up. Jealousy is very real.

Using Kris Jenner is an extremely bad example because she has been grooming all her kids even before social media to essentially be the way they are today. Not all parents are like that

You're right. I mean women her age aspire to be and act like her. She's the "cool mom" to entertainment and society for these past generations.

I miss being young. I'll never be young again and having the possibility to find young love. That's why.

Becoming "older" sucks. Being a young adult is the best time of life.

I agree but when you have everyone running around here as if they are all young. If it wasn't for maturity we wouldn't have advanced as a society. Someone needs to pick up the slack and most people now adays are just not cut out for it.

I used to think this way too but now I see how important having families are. When reality hits and people want to have babies it will be too late and they'll have problems. Everyone can act young all they want but the truth is they are not.

If you think having families are cool then good for you. A lot of people think the same way too and no one can force you. The thing is that, what you consider cool is what you don't consider cool. And people who are enjoying their youth despite being an adult are just simply enjoying their life. They're not trying to be cool, they're just doing what they think is cool and people don't think the same way you do. They only have one life so of course they strive for what they want or they'd actually regret it. And it's not only families that people regret on not having. There are also people who have families regret on not even chasing their dreams.

I don't agree there is an overpopulation that's just want they tell people. You're right though people aren't having kids. I have a bunch of cousins who are in their late twenties and almost thirty not having kids. It's happening everywhere.
