Is this a weird question to ask somebody else, or would you assume this is normal?

I wrote a poem about emotional abuse at a poetry club one time and the person running the group asked me why I'm so normal when I had the problems I did and I said I'm normal cause I've been obsessed with the bible all these years. I also had a lot of people accuse me of lying about being abused which might be because I seem too normal to be a victim of extreme harassment by my parents, I'm confident and happy and knowledgeable. I had another guy complain that it wasn't fair I was able to get a university degree and he wasn't when you consider the types of problems that were stopping me from completing my degree.

Lots of people have lots of problems. Some people just don’t and so they’re shocked to hear about it. They’ve never been in a situation even remotely similar hence the reaction of wow how are you still here after whatever you went through. Is it a normal question I probably wouldn’t have the balls to say something like that in case it offended someone but I can understand where it’s coming from. Many people don’t believe what they can’t explain. If that makes sense.

You did what you had to take care of yourself when you came up on the better end who cares what other people think be happy and grateful, and move on let him sit in the pile of crap he chooses to stay in
