Why do girls post group photos where their friends look bad?

WHY do I see the girls I know on social media always posting posts with their 'besties' where the bestie looks bad compared to the poster? The poster will look super photogenic while their friend or group of friends look bad. Even when they're wishing their friends happy birthday, even us guys notice that their friend often looks noticeably worse than them in the photo. Do girls do this on purpose or is it something they aren't aware of? Are any of them even really friends with each other?

Only some people do this. But I know what you mean ! And it's usually because some people are vain and self-centred. Competitive attitudes on social media exacerbate this. People post, and they couldn't care less what others look like in the photo as long as they are looking their best on their profile.

Some even take it a step further and purposefully choose the pic where their friend looks awful so that by comparison, they look prettier than their friend or even better. The 'friend' acts as the DUFF. I've seen it happen and I avoid being friends with people like this

I think people tend to delete photos they don’t think themselves look good in. So then may end up only having pictures they’re the best looking ones in.

Another thing to keep in mind is some people just aren’t photogenic and don’t look good in almost any photos at all (I’m one of those - it can take me 300+ photos before I get one decent one) and if that’s the case of a friend then the poster obviously don’t have any better photos of that person.

Then of course there are some people who do it because they’re insecure of their own looks and mean and want to make sure they’re the best looking one in the pictures they post.
