Do I need to worry?

Today was teacher's day. And I like a teacher so much and wanted to buy a gift for him, I bought a scarf for him yesterday also got packaged it nicely. Today at school I couldn't find a right time to give my gift because I didn't want to give my gift in lots of students, I wanted to give it privately where I can celebrate his teacher's day comfortably and confident so I was planning to give my gift in teacher's room, the teacher's room in another floor so only teachers are there, no students. In last class of today my friend told the teacher "she couldn't give you her gift she is a bit shy" and I was shocked when she told it to him. He is also a person like he doesn't accept gift or doesn't look for gifts it's just not his thing in short. I already thought about it but I didn't know he really doesn't accept gifts like I just imagined of him saying "I don't accept gifts" but that imagine was true actually because he really doesn't accept in reality already I found it out too. When my friend told him that I have gift for him the teacher said "I don't accept gifts thank you but I really don't accept from anyone" and then after a while he asked to me with a soft accepting face "what did you buy?" And I said "a scarf, for teacher's day" but he didn't hear and asked again I said scarf again he still didn't hear and he asked "did you buy shirt?" And I said "I don't know your size I bought scarf for you" and he said "I don't want to offend you, I'm taking your gift, normally I don't accept gifts often but for you I'm taking it" with a modest face and he thanked me and I thanked him for accepting my gift. Is my situation embrassing? I feel so angry on my friend also for telling the teacher about my gift before I was going to give it to him by myself somewhere else. What are your thoughts?

some teachers have a no gift policy. in my experience they usually never give them but many i know are perfectly open to receiving them. no, you don’t need to worry.

It's private and small school, everyone friendly to each other, teachers are close to students too, every student bought a gift for their favorite teacher so I bought to mine

He just didn't hear when I told him what my gift is. When I was kindly saying please to him he was hearing but still was saying no with a with determination but after a while he got soft and accepted my gift, did I embrass myself?
