What does "ghost hug" mean to you?

Got into an argument today about what a "ghost hug" is. I have always heard about it and used it in a way to symbolise a "viritual" hug or a hug from distance, like "I want to hug you but we are in different towns".

But my coworker said ghost hug is when you hug someone but you don't or barely touch each other... like "I don't really want to hug you but I kinda have to"

What does it mean to you?

Viritual/distance "I want to hug you"

No touch "I don't want to hug you"-hug

Seems like all girls agree on what it means while the guys had very different views. In this case it was a girl that used the term and a guy that argued about the meaning.

a "ghost hug" to me means long distance/virtual, because it's still a hug but from far away.

meanwhile the "not wanting to hug but kinda have to" seems so depressing 😭 that's not even a hug anymore, that's just NOT wanting to be touched by them or in general.

I know right. I don't know where he got that from. Cause if I'm not completely wrong there is like a gif with a ghost saying something about ghost hug in a positive way🤔

YEAH THERE IS!! it's a cute ghost, i would send that to my online friends when we were still friends so it seems more appealing for it to be a "ghost hug"

Yeah I didn't know there was a Word for that at all... 😅 but it makes sense to call it hover hands
