Why are teenage guys more independent than teenage girls?

Every parent I know who has kids tells me their teen sons help cook, clean, do their own laundry, babysit their younger siblings, and will move out as soon as they're 18 years old.

On the other hand, many parents tell me their teen daughters depend on them for EVERYTHING. They won't cook, clean, do laundry, won't get a job, and just sit in their "cave", and play video games all day. They also plan to live with their moms until they're in their 30s.
