Say u get pregnant at 17 and the partner has fcked off.. u now have to be a single mother who is still living with parents and has no income

What would be the ideal thing to do?

My friend was in this exact situation, she was housed in a hostel where she shared with other people…. Not a good environment to raise a baby

tough call isn't it? that's why ya keep certain things under wraps eventhough nature says to get started. people used to start around that age (marriage ideally) with a plot of land... at this time, you are deep in a hole. and if there's no good parent support, oh my G! I know of someone in this boat, just older, but age doesn't fix finances...

In western countries, I believe there is some degree of $ provided by the people via the govt. not sure how much or if it's enough. kids gonna go without... and she's gonna be stressed. family very important...

I said keep, but I get the challenge. I've seen multiple keep and get through it.

I dont' know how women terminate their offspring, I saw that in Jr high? unreal... sad... it screwed her head but don't know for how long. the guy was gorgeous... but an out of control idiot.

I'm surprised very few people mentioned giving up the baby for adoption. Safe-haven laws are already there.

If I were 17 and on the way of becoming a single mother with no future to give for the child, I would leave him/her at the hospital and let someone else that could provide the baby better resources raise them. It wouldn't be fair to raise a child if you're not even working or barely making any income and relying on the government for assistance.

I would abort because I wouldn't want some random person raising my kid and I wouldn't like knowing I have a kid out there somewhere. I also would not have been ready at that age and don't see a point in having a guys kid that I am not with. Luckily I never had sex until I was an adult so I never had to worry about this lol.

I kept son even tho I was only 17. At the time my relationship was rocky and I thought I was gonna be a single mother. My parents were much support either. Things ended up working out for the best so it would have been a mistake to abort or give him up for adoption

There are many local and government programs that help people in that situation. Plus there are always side jobs that you could do. It's not like the situation is anything new. People used to get married young, have children young, and have the father die off since the dawn of mankind. People find a way when they want to.

In the UK there is no support, you only receive child benefit which isn’t even enough plus you can’t work without paying for childcare unless you have family who are willing to babysit

Eesh, the eternal q. I would say take in stats of single mothers at that age. Less likely to move up the social ladder. Less likely to marry longterm.
