My friend and I were talking about comicon once. When I told them I've never been to one before, they offered to get me a ticket for the next one. Months later, I learned that they got a ticket for someone else (their other friend/situationship).
I understand that it's their money and they could do what they want with it. What really matters to me is the principle of it. It isn't the first time something like this has happened either. It's like I get pushed to the side when it comes to the other friend.
I just want to know whether I'm overthinking it or not.

It all comes down to the type of friendship you have with each other. If the other person is closer especially in recent times and do things together and cheer person up, then you pick the friend who makes you feel good. Not the one you ‘promised’ in the moment when talking about it.
Also another factor to consider is how enthusiastic you have shown your friend about the things you say you are interested in. If it’s you one time thing and you feel you deserve it, whilst the other friend has shown more interest, then there is no reason to pick you!
