My ex says I'm her best friend, but wants to be single? what do I do?

so my ex broke up with me awhile back, it wasn't a bad break up, and a good relationship of 3 years till then, she even dated someone after me which I didn't like too much but was happy for her, that didn't last long and she consistently called me after that, saying that I was her best friend and that you don't realize what you have till its gone, so my natural instinct was that she was having second thoughts and maybe wanted to work things out..well the talking went on for awhile mostly on her part because she kept calling me, but when I asked what her intentions were she said she just wants to be single but she loves talking to me and I was her best friend, I've told her numerous times that I think its best that we not talk until she 100% knows what she wants or its an emergency..even after I told her this she still called me, and sometimes said she misses me and wished that I was with her...why would she be telling me this?

i'm obviously still in love with her, but we both have different wants at this time.. so do I try and wait it out and talk to her and see if she will come around, or do I not talk to her, and remove myself and see if she comes around..? any advice would be greatly appreciated.
