My best friend gave me a really cheap gift?

So I invited my friends on a birthday party.

My best friend bought me very cheap gift because only bath gel , which had discount price and costs only 2 $

I don't want to sound snobby but she works and earns quite good money, we go shopping together sometimes and she buys really expensive clothes and shoes.

I don't work but I bought her something more expensive and special.

It's not like I want expensive gifts but it seems like she was looking for cheapest gift she could find to not waste money on me, it makes me really angry & sad and I don't know what to do now?

Usually I don't care at all how much money people spend on me, but if you're SURE she has enough money (there might be something going on with her in that department) I get why you're upset. Buying something with the intention of finding the cheapest gift is lame. We all want to feel appreciated by our friends.

I guess it all depends if this was a one time thing, or she always acts so cheap. If it was only this time, let it go. If she's always like that... well, you probably can't change her. Material gifts are not the only way of giving. If she's a good friend otherwise, it's not worth ruining the friendship.

I understand the gift might not be on par with what's typically expected, but you have to reconsider the true meaning of birthdays. It's a celebration and people you know and love are there for you.

For my birthday I don't care what gifts I get, so long as the people I love are there for me to celebrate.

I think naturally someone could be upset,but I also think you are being irrational.Maybe she has bills to pay and she can't afford more.Maybe,maybe,maybe... Some people aren't great at getting other people gifts...and that is something I think you should learn to accept.One of my best friends didn't receive a gift from me at all.Does it mean I don't love him?No.I figure my presence is enough.I do not believe her intent was to spend the least amount of money.I think you should be happy she gave you anything.

I don't think you're being snobby. $2 on a gift is really cheap. There isn't really anything you can say that won't make you seem snobby, unfortunately. The best thing to do is to get down on her level. Next time she has a birthday or other gift-giving occasion, buy her something really cheap from the dollar store or something. If she's not going to bother spending a reasonable amount of money on you, you shouldn't spend it on her.

I gave my friends cheap Christmas gifts and I felt really bad about it. But I honestly spent as much as I could. You say she could have afforded to get you a nice gift, maybe she ran out of money or something. Or maybe it was a joke. I give gag gifts sometimes. seems everyone thinks I'm snobby and bad. She is rich girl, few days ago we went for shopping and she bought expensive cosmetics and shoes for herself. The body wash is fine but nothing special really, and it was on discount price. I just expected from her some effort buying me gift like I put effort to bake cakes for my friends, I feel really sad, No I won't tell her anything of course.

I understand. You're worried that maybe she is trying to say something about your friendship, or she forgot and had to run to cvs real quick. Maybe that's what happened. I don't know. But just try to set your mind to think that maybe so etching happened and she would have liked to get you a better gift but couldn't. Or maybe she was being funny

she knew about my birthday party 3 weeks before it , and if 2 days ago she had time to go shopping and buy shoes and other things she would have time to chose something for me :( when she had birthday I bought her a book whihc I knew she wants to have , it wasn't super cheap and I'm not that rich like her but I didn't buy jeans I liked to have money for this book for her.

I wouldn't dwell on it. I do understand that you wanted some kind of thought behind it but then again some people are difficult to buy for, I certainly am. If you're certain she put no thought into it then there's not a lot I can say for that.
