The black pocket square is something I’ll buy online (picture below)

Black on blue is not the easiest to pull off.
One thing i'd suggest considering is texture shifts, it looks nice if your suit, tie, pocket square are different textiles/textures. You can play around here a bit by season as well.
As an example in the second picture, he has a knit tie (I believe) with a smooth silky square. You can go the other way in winter, using like a soft cashmere type square.
The easiest to wear square is a white linen one, crisply ironed.
Multicolor silk squares shoved casually in add a flash of color.
And yes, don't be too 'matchy'. It looks lame.
Don't spend too much, get a couple different ones so you can mix it up.
Black or silver then? Them two are available options?
Silver on blue looks good but very formal.
One reason a navy suit is versatile is that it can look more casual, fairly businesslike, or very formal depending on accessories and shirt. A black suit, by contrast, can look 'cool' or very formal but actually struggles to fit between.
Silver on blue would be the -most- formal. For instance there is a category of ties which are called 'wedding ties', these are generally tight pattern silver ties worn with a navy suit for a traditional daytime look (for groom and guests alike) that's a step below cutaways/morning suits (technically tuxedoes and white tie are reserved for evening).
I'll again say a white linen square is appropriate in the widest range. A silver silk one would look more formal with the right tie, or sort of … like you're quite into fashion when worn without a tie. But with a tie it ups the formality. If you want to dial formality down with a tie, you could use a light blue or pink both of which complement navy well.
Yes the suit is for weddings and for dates haha.
TBH for a wedding i'd probably go white linen square, ironed, and a tie like :
For a date, I'd go no tie, splash of color, and texture. Either a silk patterned tie. (here's my grail tie of that type:
Or I actually have one that's a pale blue cashmere.
For a date, it's nice to have clothing that your date is tempted to touch because it looks enjoyable to touch.
