How to make a man bun look more Japanese?

So I’m Japanese, and I’ve Ben growing out my hair for a hell of a long time. I refuse to get it cut due to the fear of them fucking it up. So the first picture is what I normally wear, the other is with my hair in a bun where i wear when I’m either doing a sport or working out. Now the question I have is how do I make the man bun work, how do I make it look pretty Japanese, I understand facial hair would work but unfortunately with my ethnicity it’s difficult to grow a good beard.

You're making it too tight and "clean". Keep it looser and allow some wisps to fall out.

If you're going to wear a high bun like in your pic, leave some of the hair on the back of your neck down rather than pinning it all up. As for what you do have up, tug it loose a bit, so it kinda "hangs". In the front, pull some wisps out from the corners of your forehead. Like this:

If you go for a low bun, foldover buns are more popular on Japanese men than twisted buns. You could go for something like this:

Just do a middle or off-middle part, and if it comes loose it comes loose.

So for your first suggestion, basically a messy bun? I did notice that when I made everything looser it appeared better looking but just didn’t take a picture. Your second suggestion is really helpful and will definetely be trying! Much appreciation!

Yeah, pretty much. I know getting the wisps in your face can be annoying and seem like it's defeating the purpose of putting your hair up at all--but you gotta just endure it if you wanna look good.

Are you mixed? You have interesting features. You look better with your hair down, however, if you want to stick to the man bun i would suggest making everything tighter, and putting the bun more towards the top of your head so it’s visible even if you’re looking straight ahead. Then add hairspray for a cleaner look. If you’re scared of getting your hair cut I would suggest just giving yourself a little trim to shoulder length I think that would suit you much better :) Good luck!

I’ve already begun to grow a bit, however it’s mainly patches and some spots grow quicker than others. I had already explained that in the body of the question but I appreciate the reassurance.
