I'm conflicted because leather is there already just from the cows we kill, throwing it away would be a waste. But I really don't like that we kill so many animals
So long as the fur/leather comes from an animal regularly consumed such as cows, dear, goat, lamb, buffalo/bison, rabbits and moose or from invasive spices such as the pythons in Florida that need to be killed for the stability of the local ecosystem than yes I agree.
However no one who isn't starving is going to eat chinchilla, beaver, fox, mink/weasel or raccoon so those furs should stay in the past. These animals are either killed in the wild possibly decimating local populations or farmed purely for their fur which to me is cruel and a waste of life and resources that could be used to feed animals for food production.
Case in point Chinchilla farming (yes the video is from PETA but don’t worry about that just watch it) youtube. com/watch? v=nX_VkgVsUyc Chinchillas are very social animals, they love to jump, climb and squeeze in to small spaces with other chinchillas. The cage sizes used in farming are drastically inadequate but to farm quality Chinchilla fur it has to be. Their fur is so delicate you have to keep them from touching one another or being active and they must be killed young otherwise the fur quality decreases and then you have to kill them only after they finish molting to keep from getting a “break in the fur”. I don’t think we should destroy furs/ leathers made from this animal that are in existence already (that would truly be wasting their lives) but we should stop making more.
@BethanyK86 as if we'd need meat to survive :D there's numerous good cases made for the fact, that going vegan as a global society will reduce world hunger, so my point still stands. the atrocities done to animals for food purposes are not lesser evils than the ones done for fur harvesting.
i'm just looking at it from a neutral and moral free position and from that position, eating meat and being against fur is contradictory.
from a moral standpoint, both is equally reprehensible and since i personally do still eat meat, it wouldn't be coherent to be on the fence about fur harvesting. however i do acknowledge that both is morally not ok.
Real Fur! Show who's dominate one in the evolutionary race!!! I get to mate and pass on my genetic material! Not this bear!!!

Honestly, the real stuff is just better. I've tried fake fur in the lining of my leopard print bikini briefs, and it just makes my balls itch like crazy. Pretty sure nobody wants to see me itching all day. :P

I think the rage about this is inconsistent. We eat meat so might as well use fur.

I inherited several and wear them when its cold out
If your going to shoot something might as well use as many parts as you can
I wouldn't mind real fur, it's just that poachers will distrito entire species regardless if they're endangered or not.
Fake fur is good considering no animal dies but the fake fur isn't good for the environment so will have to go without the fur !!!
Depends on species and status.
Is the animal endangered?
If it's not, I am okay with it, I guess.
I eat meat and wear leather, but fur is bad because they kill beautiful animals just to make a fashion statement. Ewww
I think fur, whether fake or real, looks tacky. I wouldn't wear clothing with either.
If I eat the animal shouldn't the most resourceful thing be to use all of its parts?
I like real fur haha my jacket is made with coyote fur 🙂
Think people who use real fur, are disgusting people
by the way, im still a meateater
If the meat isn't sold, it shouldn't be sold.
Cow Leather = good.
Mink fur = bad.
I never had but it looks nice
I don’t like wearing dead animals lol
I like fake fur.
