Are you against it?
Only skinny or fit girls should be models?
I think some looks gorgeous and their bod is quite amazing
E. g. Ashley Graham
This is a touchy subject but I'd say it depends... Some people are bigger than others but just as healthy if not more healthy. Since women hold more subcutaneous fat (fat that sit just under the skin), being a little overweight likely won't have the same health risks as men (who have more visceral fat that wraps around internal organs). Plus women's bodies were made store more fat than men since men often have more lean muscle mass.
That being said, if the models look extremely overweight then I'm against them being promoted models (same goes for unhealthily skinny models). I mean so overweight/skinny to where their health is being affected. That shouldn't be something people would want to be promoting. I don't mind them modeling plus sized clothing in pictures because that's mainly gonna be in stores or websites to show what the clothing looks like on a person. But we should never promote bad eating habits that promote an unhealthy lifestyle.
Side note: The models in pictures above don't look unhealthily overweight. The way they're built just looks more broad than other females. And of course there's a higher body fat percentage but it doesn't look like an unhealthy amount for a female.
no, I'm definitely not against plus sized model's... in fact quite teh opposite...
in reality the fashion industry is part of teh problem for misconceptions of what and how women/girls should look, what weight they are and that in turn applies a lot of pressure to women/girls, even from an early age...
at least with a more realistic outlook on the human body and both male and female shapes/sizes then women/girls who aren't the fashion industry's perfect size zero can be accepted in society...
and would face far less ridicule and pressures to be what society claims they should be
I don't like plus sized models. I don't like also super skinny models. I cheer for healthy models and neither super skinny neither fat ones are.
What I believe about plus size models is that fat people have an addiction-to eat - and with this trend it's like they show to these people that being fat is okay and please continue to be lazy and unhealthy yeah!!! I think some people like them because they represent the easy way. Without effort to be likeable and by being fat to be desirable. No need to try at all. Just embrace yourself no matter how bad you look. Show your uniqueness. The truth is that they are lazy. Lazy to eat healthily and lazy to exercise. I can only accept if someone has diabetes and is fat. All the other ones are lazy that's the truth. Many here will hate me but that's my opinion. Also Ashley Graham has a very pretty face but I don't like her body at all. If she lost some weight she would be healthier and better
Why can't the modeling industry simply promote healthy sizes?
I understand having different body types and weights and all, but don't tell me that a 30+% body fat is normal. Those super skinny models are unhealthy as well. Many lose their periods because they don't have enough body fat to sustain another life if they choose to.

people come in different shapes and sizes. so is Beauty so not against at all.
Promoting overweight people is just as bad as promoting underweight people. How about normal sized models? I don't see that.
The woman in the picture looks stunning. She isn't obese and her weight is distributed proportionally. Unfortunately not many people can say that. Most people tend to have problem zones where the fat accumulates. This leads to individuals who are skinny everywhere else but look pregnant or those who are XS on the top and XL on the bottom with gigantic butts and hips.
I'm not against them if they are healthy. I don't expect all models to be super skinny, being too skinny can be a bad thing too because being underweight is also unhealthy.
If the plus-sized model is obese, I would suggest she do something about her weight not to pressure her into looking like a stereotypical model, but because being obese is unhealthy, and can shorten somebody's lifespan.
It depends, some models actually look like they are healthy enough. Like the model in that picture. But if you see obese women modeling clothes, then that's just promoting obesity and isn't pretty to look at. Just like very skinny women aswell. I'd really wish we could see more fit women. Instead of always promoting both ends of the spectrum.
No.
Modelling is about the clothing. And should not be about how the person looks or whatever.
It would be dumb not to have plus size models.
Not everybody is skinny or whatever.
So it would be in modeling agencies their best interest to feature clothing for plus size people as well.
For both plus size men, and women.
I am all for beautiful women and beautiful women comes in all shapes and sizes. Tho I would like to say that plus in today's world doesn't just mean big body. And the reason I am saying this is because the woman below is big. She is not fat, she is big. That's her body type but nowadays people are confusing morbidly obese with these big bodied models. And I am against obesity. I know what obesity feels like because I am currently obese. Just crossed the 25% body fat mark and hence I can say that plus sized models are beautiful. Morbidly obese women are not!
Let's be fair. Ashley Graham is constantly alternating between looking super hot, and looking like she is slightly overweight. But she's fine.
However - most so called "plus size models" dwarf her. She's a size 14 or 15 if I remember correctly - and some people want plus size models to extend up to size 27 or something. That's just disgusting.
I’m against. It’s unhealthy and sending a message that it’s okay to celebrate being u healthy. I feel the same about anorexia or borderline anorexia.
Some plus models look good from the neck up or even waist up. And a lot of skinny models are fug in my opinion.
As long at there is an actual demand for plus sized models I am okay with it, but if an plus sized model got her job mostly for the sake of trying to force an feminist agenda then I am not okay with it. Anyway Ashley Graham weight don't look extreme to me, and she mostly full in the right places. :)
I think its bs that plus women can’t be models so many beautiful and interesting women out there all bc of a height or weight restrictions? Not to mention how much pressure it is to keep in shape and make time for a regular life. I love Ashley Graham she seems very chill and fun. Fashion should be expressed equally regardless of restrictions
Yes I'm against plus sized models.
I think that promoting literally the most common cause of death is completely backwards.
But then again, the less stupid fat people in the world, the better.
Too bad they are such a huge burden on the healthcare, though.
Not at all!! We all look different for a reason. Some like em chubby. I do draw the line at women like Tess Holiday. she's WAYY too big, but people like Ashley don't bother me at all.
i mean i don't think there's anything wrong with having models specifically chosen to fit your fashion brands target audience.
however i do find that trend of "plus size" getting fatter and fatter and all this body positivity bullshit concerning, cause being fat is massively unhealthy and there should be some sort of stigma to it, cause it's not good.
... The term "plus-sized" is erroneous and stupid and no one should use it. It simply means fat. And, no, fat models should not be a thing. That's like asking if fat Olympians or fat soldiers or fat anything that you need to be fit and thin to do should be a thing. It's fucking moronic.
No because I'm for equality. And I Think plus size models are beautiful. I don't support fat but I support healthy curvy. As long as it's healthy it's great. So both starved models and models who are unhealthy is a no for me. Ashley is really healthy she works out a lot and she is curvy. Good for her!
I'm glad there is more equality now than before in the modeling business.
I am against people using euphemisms like "plus sized".
I think models should look good, otherwise there's no point in it, and sure, you can look good even if you aren't super skinny, it's just quite unlikely. But if we adapt bullshit concepts like "everyone is beautiful just the way they are" the profession of models becomes obsolete.
No! I think they are more normal and attractive. Fit, tones and skinny it’s nice but let’s admit that society is full of different shapes and weight so “plus size” models make whatever they are modeling look equally beautiful and attainable.
I’m neither for or against them. I don’t understand why anyone needs to be for or against them. People do what they want. I don’t feel obligated to care about everything other people do.
I'm against the modelling industry as whole. It's a vain and corrupt industry.
