Why do guys not have uncomfortable footwear in the same way girls wear heels?

Nobody is forcing women to wear heels, and I question the sanity of every woman who does. (OK, not really, but you get what I mean.)

If you say women aren’t as “competitive” in the dating marketplace without heels—and I’ll admit you might have a point—do you really think men don’t make choices that require a minor personal sacrifices in order to make themselves more attractive?

For example a guy who puts more thought—and cash—into planning a date might be more successful, all other things being equal. Asking for a date and usually facing rejection has a “cost” as well. Not that women can’t do the asking, of course.

Heels are sexy I'd never date a girl who doesn't love wearing heels. Its not as uncomfortable as you're making out to be :)

But girls love heels because they look sexy and get attention from guys. Which is worth being a little uncomfortable.

If there was anything equivalent for men, any footwear that could make men equally as sexy and looking good. I'd wear them too even if they are uncomfortable. I would wear heels no problem if it had same affect on girls. Being sexy, looking good and having style is more important that being slightly uncomfortable.

A lot of us have to wear suits or dressier clothing even on sweltering summer days and that easily offsets the shoe thing. And because men are expected to have occupations or do more physically active things, going off the beaten path for nicer looking shoes that sacrifice comfort or practical use is silly

It's always kind of boggled my mind that women's high heeled shoes are seen as "good" shoes. I think there's a lot of truth to the old adage that "form follows function" and I think high heeled shoes fail that standard if you're talking about footwear made for . . . I don't know, actually walking in. But of course they're not made for walking in. They're made to accentuate a woman's figure.

Because it was never culturally important or "fansionable" for men to dress that way. In addition, as men have historically been the physical laborers of society, uncomfortable footwear wouldn't have made any sense.

I think, even if guys don't realize it, a lot of attraction comes from the theme of innocence, or vulnerability. Heels amplify the look of femininity and in turn, the vulnerability.

I will tell you this, after a long day there is nothing better than getting your boots off and I will say this, there is actually one benefit to heels which is basically the same as sandals but you can quickly take them off every once in a while. Especially while working behind a desk. Just slip them off. You can't always do the same with laced shoes

Well, I wear boots in the Army and in my job as a security guard. They're pretty comfortable. I think girls wearing uncomfortable footwear is what gives them a sense of submissiveness.

We do. Dress shoes are not comfortable. My brogue dress shoes from the 1950s are really painful to wear for hours. I don't complain because they look good.
