What are your thoughts on kilts?

After this crazy hot summer, I'm curious what your thoughts are on kilts. What do you think of guys who wear them? Will they ever be as acceptable as pants?

From experience- the lack of pockets DOES become a problem, if you don't plan around it, but the ventilation is nice. Just remember that riding a bike (or- I assume- a horse or motorcycle) is a bad idea. And a traditional Scottish kilt is made of heavy wool, and is actually COLD-weather clothing, not hot.

Also, think of what you'll be doing, and how much attention you're after; a kilt itself will raise a few eyebrows from people who notice it, but pair it with a Hawaiian shirt, and even DEAD people will be staring.

I love kilts but those examples above are bloody awful. Not a fan of the casual kilt/utility kilt look. I wear my Irish county tartan (Roscommon) with a button up shirt, sporran, dress boots/shoes, belt, and waistcoat. Looks more refined and classic.

(sorry for the stupid question) Is it dress attire for you? Is there a such thing as casual? (lol. casual like a casual tuxedo... )

Yes there are casual ways to wear it. In the Highland games they wear sporty versions But didn't think the above examples were done that well. Then again, even some Scots wear it like that sometimes so it is up to personal preference.

Kilts are outstanding garments. Everyone should be required to wear them to make it a common clothing item.
