I really want to lose weight but I know my mom will look better than me…. Is my thinking warped?

I really want to lose weight and my mom is too.. but my mom is pretty and has a model face and features. I look like a creature either way. I do want some plastic surgery in the future.

But I rather just stay fat bc I won’t look as good. I prob still won't get a boyfriend.. she’s attracted a lot of my crushes.. and only old guys seem to like me.

I feel very jealous and her saying comments about my looks in the past really hurt my self esteem.

I don’t know how to get out this mindset

I say this as a guy who has struggled with my weight most of my life but now am working on it, you are almost certainly not unattractive or ugly.


People simply just don’t like how unhealthy overweight people tend to look. It’s not easy but with discipline, things can change.


From my experience with women, I can tell you I’ve seen cases where one was overweight and no guys really ever have her a second look and after getting healthy and fit, EVERY guy around were drawn to her. You’ll be surprised if you do the work.

You are probably prettier than you think. Lose the weight for your health. I would not get plastic surgery unless you had the opinion of a trusted friend.

No you’re just making excuses, most people get much prettier in the face with weight loss because it makes the eyes and lips look bigger the cheeks and jaw more defined.

If you want cosmetic surgery you’ll have best results if you lose weight first anyway.

I’m not trying to be mean it’s hard to make changes, never compare yourself to anyone else just be the best you can be. There will always be someone prettier so what lol there’s only one you.
