Why does he only tell me his feelings when he is drunk?

I noticed this guy I hang around will act normal with me, he won't flirt with me or anything, he's just cool with me. When he's drunk though he will tell all and hugs me a lot. I was kinda drunk myself and I said "Are you mad at me?" And he kept repeating himself saying "No, I love you so much" "You're my favorite person" "You're my best friend" and he kept kissing my head lol. And he kept kissing the side of my face, lmao also hugging me very tightly, and just kept repeating "I love you". But when he's sober he doesn't act that way. So why is that? Should I even believe him when he said that? Thanks! :)

1. When drunk people lose or their inhibitions are lowered, hence they say things they won't when they are sober
2. When tipsy / drunk that person is certainly in no control over him/herself hence, those words must not be taken seriously or trusted with
3. If this guy likes you for sure & is not a shy type then he should say all this when he's sober which makes more sense
4. If he says these things only when drunk it also may mean that he likes you but probably more sexually (even if he doesn't realize it himself) but doesn't want to get into a relationship etc
5. If he were afraid of rejection which being why he doesn't say it when sober, then he won't say it when drunk too so this confirms to my point 3 :)

When he is drunk he probably feels relaxed enough to be more honest about his feelings.

Yeah I see what you mean. I am the same way if I have deep feelings for someone and I am super drunk around them, I will tell them everything lol. Then the next day I will be mortified, haha. But it is what I truly feel sober and drunk. Thank you! :)

he could be very inexperienced with girls,

he could have had a bad experience with girls lately and is scared of getting hurt by showing his feelings.

I think you are right about the third one. Him and this girl were getting close and it seems like she wants nothing to do with him cause they haven't spoken to each other in weeks and his ex he was with for a long time, so I could see where he could be doing that. Thank you! :)
