It depends, if there's flirting and he asks for my number then I know it's a date. But if it's just some guy who you get along with then just friendship probably.
Well, I didn't know her that well, but I wanted to get to know her. The only way I could get to know her was by asking to meet her sometime.
I didn't want to turn it into a one-night stand, of course. But I also can't say as an afterthought "oh, by the way, this is a real date and I'm genuinely interested, I'm not just looking for a one-night stand." That would put her off more than if I didn't say it.
Do you have any experiences that you remember? Any particular contexts where you remember thinking one way or the other?
I was in a cafe sitting alone, writing something on a tablet. Our eyes occasionally met and we smiled. What would your impression be if you were behind a cafe counter and a guy came up like that?

Any girl with half a brain should have known you wanted more than just friendship in this scenario.
Initial reaction for sure a date. However u did say hangout.. later think maybe it's not a date.
If u say "hang out" it's more likely she will think ur just wanting to be friends. U should say "go out" instead.
I say "hang out" because otherwise the girl just looks at me like I aked her to marry me/ freaks out.
Friendship I always think it's friendship and nothing more my mind never goes to dates.

Well, I personally think he just wants the girl, for her body... then use her for another girl
If you dont know the guy, sorry, forgot to add that

First thing I think is they want a friend if they gt too close or flirty i think the like me but doubt it maybe they just want to be good friends.
if it wasn't a damn date, I'd be pissed! haha
Depends how he asks, but I would probably think he liked me...
If he has a record, run... if not he just might be shy!!!
Maybe want to be friend or either he likes me wich never happens
Hang out to me is sex.
I would probably think he wants to get in my pants
it depends on his approach. how and where we met.

while working? that would make me uncomfortable.
Where would not be uncomfortable? Would it be better if he waited until you were off?
I would feel insecure about what he wants
It's up to you to do whatever you want
