Why did my crush ask me if I'm a virgin?

We were talking the other day and she flat out asked me if I'm a virgin. She didn't do it in a mean way, like she wasn't trying to insult me, but she did just that. She had a look on her face like she honestly wasn't sure about the answer. That's a very hurtful thing to a guy, because it's like the girl he wants to impress telling him she sees him as a little boy. Do girls realize this, and why would she ask this? I'm not a virgin, by the way, and I've dated girls consistently since I was 17.

It's different for girls and guys. Virginity is prized in girls but mocked in guys. We're expected to get laid as soon as we can.

Don't get offended, she's obviously thinking about you sexually if she wants to know your history. If anything it reassures her you're STD free!

I know she's not a virgin for sure. She's actually highly sexual and has had other partners. We've talked a lot about sex and what we like.

That's what I'm thinking, and the insinuation of her question is that she thinks I'm a sexual nothing. That's why things didn't work between us. I don't need that kind of negativity. I'm not in the business of proving myself to girls, especially since I don't know a single girl who with any self-esteem who would worry about proving herself to me.
