I agree 100%. Whenever I hear this, I never say thanks, instead I'm like "Is that so?"
It is a back handed compliment but it's done usually in ignorance. People don't realize what they're saying and so don't see anything wrong with it. It bothers me very, very much because it's like saying black girls aren't usually cute/hot/pretty and I'm some sort of exception.
Please. ALL women, black ones included, are beautiful.
I just choose to ignore the girls and guys who tell me this because I have no time to waste with someone with that frame of mind.
it's a backhanded compliment and not worthy of being acknowledged with a "thank you". only ignorant people say it. they are basically saying "black girls are usually ugly except for you". insulting my race but acting like I'm an exception is not an acceptable compliment in my eyes, it's rude. even if they aren't usually attracted to black women, fine but just say "you're cute" no need to diss all black women and then act stupid when you get rightfully offended by it.
They don't know any better, Its generally people that aren't able to analyse themselves. They have no idea how their actions or words are perceived in another persons eyes because their ego is at a level that makes them feel like they don't need to justify themself. Don't take it personally, some people are just naturally offensive, take it as a tip to know what guys arn't worth your time.
TOTALLY prejudice. Same as saying, "You're hot for a chick that's had X kid(s)," Some people have no manners or couth.

A study was conducted (I forget where I read it... but I could find it for you) which determined that most people view black females as hyper masculine. As a result many men deem them as "unattractive".
On the other end of the spectrum are asian women which are viewed as the most feminine.
I work with a lot of black girls that make comments about me being both attractive and white at the same time. Normally it doesn't offend me, but the next time they say something like that I'm going to punch them in the face and tell them that Charnelle told me I should get p*ssed off.
blacks are not attractive for whites. you cannot change someone's taste. they mean "you are attractive for black race". ask an asian whether male whether he finds american (native) female attractive? it is same. Race X is not attractive for race Y. I'm talking about males.
I've gotten similar compliments, but I never thought of them as offensive. They could have taken off the last part, but I doubt they meant it to be a bad thing. They are basically saying "I'm normally not attracted to black girls, but you are definitely an exception." lol but I'm a guy and I don't get many compliments, so I just take them.

Honestly, I find 99% of black girls UNattractive. It just doesn't click for me, and understand why a guy would say that (most likely because he is ignorant, cannot filter his thoughts) But yeah. Sorry if you hate my answer. Its just that there are not very many black girls who are that beautiful IMO. I personally, have not seen a black girl in the last year at least that I have felt feelings for. And I go to university. There are some pretty ones for sure, but nothing I am attracted to.
