I say this because I have a slow-burn when it comes to developing a crush. It's the opposite of love-at-first-site. This means that I don't think too much about girls I see or meet for the first time, but after a long period of isolation, I develop a fervent crush on them, and it tends to show!
The burn-lifetime could be anywhere between a couple of months or a couple of years. I can attest to both scenarios.
The takeaway is that it's very possible for this to happen. Although it seems strange in our culture where love-at-first-sight is considered the Disney-outcome, it's very likely he has good intentions with his crush. Although you do need to be aware that slow-burns can look like the person is only taking an interest in you because it's convenient for them.
