Why does hugging a guy make you feel so safe?

I don't even know how to explain it. It's just this warm feeling that makes you feel like nothing can hurt you. Hugging other girls doesn't make me feel this way. I understand that part of it is physical attraction, but it feels like more. Even if he's just a friend and you aren't even interested in him in a sexual way, it still provokes that feeling. Does hugging girls make guys feel 'safe' too?

I'd never heard that. It doesn't make me feel safe or anything, but there's a girl I know who always gives me a big hug when I see her. I guess it's kind of sweet, if she gets something like that out of it.

Thats happens with my boyfriend, dad and older brother. Probably because of their broad shoulders, muscles or size. All I know is that I feel safe when hugging them =)

Hugging a man that I trust and like would make me feel safe. Not just any old dude. It has to do with the size and broad shoulders I guess.

I don't feel "protected" when I hug a girl, for some reason I feel more of an urge to protect her and I feel comfert in knowing she is safe in a hug even if only sub-consious only. Girls are deffinitly warming to hug :P

When guys hug a girl, it makes them feel like a protector, which is different than feeling protected, but also good. We're socialized to protect women (obviously not all guys are), so it is kind of like fulfilling our purpose in a way.

I don't think most guys "feel safe." And don't think that I'm pushing some kind of macho B. S. and pretending that I don't get scared because I do, but for me it's either I'm scared or I'm not, I don't ever feel a heightened sensation of security. But if I'm hugging a girl who's afraid or upset it makes me want to protect her and pet her hair and rub her back to calm her.

I feel the same way. Like whenever I hug my best guy friend, just for a moment, all my issues are gone, and I can just enjoy the feeling of the hug. It's really wonderful.

Doesn't it depend on the guy? A strong guy will do that but a weak one wouldn't right? No hugging women doesn't make me feel safe, unless maybe when I was like 5 and got a hug from mom.

I don't know but when I think back on my life so far the only girls I've hugged since teenage years and being an adult are girls I would stick up for in an argument and fight to protect them.

omg, I feel totaly the same, about like any guy, he doesn't neccessarily have to be like HUGE or even muscular, but idk, because I'm short, my arms go around the waist and his go above and just that is enuff, I don't know why tho,
