Help me figure out if he’s interested in me romantically/sexually?

I’ve been messaging a guy almost daily for a few months now. We live in the same country but very far away from each other so there’s no plan in sight of meeting up in person to read his body language. We are both in our 20’s.

We have similar interests and temperaments, he is very open emotionally and has shared many personal things with me. In conversation he has peppered in questions like “What do you find most attractive in someone?” “Do you date or use dating apps?” He also compliments my tastes and eagerly takes my recommendations as well as liking all the pictures I post of myself.

He’s not overtly flirtatious with me but I can’t tell if he’s not interested in something beyond friendship or if he’s just trying to be respectful to me. I feel silly asking for advice figuring this out but I have a big crush on him and would appreciate the insight from other men on his behavior.

You haven’t met him and doesn’t sound like you will. I can understand you forming an emotional bond and crush as you must trust him and feel safe. But you can’t know what he’s doing irl and how many other girls he’s interacting with. My advice is to try and move past the crush and instead see him as a flirtatious friend. Only if you can meet irl would you be able to grow in romance

The only way to find out your answer, is to ask him
in my opinion, he probably feels somesort of way about you, but you won't know unless you bring up this topic to him

Like I said in a previous comment, I really want to ask directly but I’m afraid of scaring him off. I’ll wait a while longer and see if the topic comes up in conversation naturally.

That's the catch 22. He may be afraid of scaring you off. Agree with above though. He may be chatting with other women but genuinely could feel the same. Time to bite the bullet. Nothing to lose really.

Believe me, I really want to, but I’m afraid of scaring him off. Aside from my crush I genuinely enjoy chatting with him and don’t want to lose that yet. I’ll just wait a while longer and see where it goes.
