Let's play. How would you react if a person of opposite gender looked into your eyes and didn't break the eye contact?

Some context.

I spent half a day travelling through the city by public transportation (the fastest way of moving in Berlin). Usually, I spend time needed to move from point A to point B on reading. And no, I don't read G@G; I read books.

But today, I did a social experiment. The experiment was mainly meant for me, but it turned out I was testing my co-passengers. I don't feel good in social situations. But decided to lock my eyes with some men I was travelling with. The effect was... surprising for both sides :D

I will describe it later in the update.

So, let's assume you sit on the bus and see a person of the opposite gender (let's say more attractive than not), and you lock your eyes. And this person doesn't break eye contact. What would you do/think/feel?

grew up also in Mexico, where I used public transportation a whole lot, so this actually happened quite a few times...

I'm one to "compete" and haven't lost once yet... lol

I could usually get a feel if they were being playful, or if they are the kind of people that just don't want to look away first, lol... so, whichever was the case I would keep the eye contact and match their energy... when they were being playful I would slowly go to a grin, or maybe a smile and bring them to smile with me and they would eventually chuckle or laugh and "give up" or when they felt more like "challenging" me into it, I would be a bit more serious and give them a more "intense" gaze and to make it more interesting I would not blink either, lmao... eventually, they would quit and look away

these are the ones that usually keep looking back a few times

but, most of the people would keep eye contact for a bit, before they would smile and look away or just look away as if it hadn't happened

or also the ones that as soon as I look back at them, would turn their face right away... lol

If I am single individual and on public transportation, and someone locks eyes at me whom I am attracted to, I will most certainly smile and make small talk. Perhaps the small talk is about the destinations or what I happen to be doing on the train/bus/airplane. If there is not a smile, and there is a perturbed look on the individuals face, I will return my attention to what I was previously occupied with before locking eyes.

I'm really only writing to get your update later.

I don't stare at people. I don't avoid eye contact, but I never linger. But from talking to people over the years, I think people are generally pretty observant in terms of who looks, and how many looks they get when they're out. Here I thought behind my sunglasses was subtle.

So I can't really imagine I'd be in that situation you describe, but I'll play. Maybe, just maybe, I'd be so surprised that someone actually did have the guts to not look away. My curiosity might get the better of me, and I'd keep looking to see how long they look? It'd feel intense, but it'd be so out of the ordinary, I'd want to know what's up.

I usually get shy, looked at them, blush or giggle looking away and looking back with a smile. But if I’m busy or not feeling myself that day, I may ignore it even if they’re cute lol.

Interesting I have tried this social experiment in college, for my experience… they definitely stared and smiled at me… even head to my direction and tries to talk to me or get my attention somehow haha. But I don’t often do this in general since I am minding my own business depending on what I’m doing when I’m going out lol.

If I lock eyes with a girl , I am locking eyes with her because I find her attractive, and I am pretty
Much letting her know that I am interested , so if she is locking eyes with me , I more than likely will approach her and try to start up a conversation with her , and get to know her. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, so it’s better to take the shot , is how I look at it. You won’t know for sure until you try.

It’s awkward to lock eyes and not speak. Usually not. I kinda mind my own. I’ll speak to someone if they talk to me. But I kind of have to get to know someone before I’m interested that way.

Fantastic idea by the way , I have tried this previously and tested myself , its really difficult to hold the gaze for a very long time , as most people will look away , or act like they didn't see the gaze.

How would I react? I'd really try to maintain that eye contact as long as I possibly could , but if I'm honest ( someone on a mission like you are ) I reckon I'd look away first , but I'd last a fair while , then I'd be thinking " What was that about? " .

So for me I would look at you for a few seconds (maybe 10) then look away. In a few seconds I would look back, if you were still looking I would smile. In my head I would be looking for you to smile back. If you don’t, then I’m looking away again and I probably won’t look back. But if you smile back… I’ll probably move where I’m sitting to talk to you if there is a spot available.

I actually enjoy locking eyes them when they are having an orgasm.

I have also locked eyes with women in public and even in other countries (RoK, Qatar) I do not count Mexico or Canada although I have had several experiences in both of those countries. I have to say for the most part, how I react is environmental, location, and time dependent. As well as dependent upon who I locked eyes with. Sometimes I flirt just using facial and body expressions. If in bar/club, send them a drink or a shot. If the right song is playing, we will be out on the dance floor. Sometimes it is fun to play the mysterious stranger when flirting.

I don’t know for certain. I’d probably be surprised, uncomfortable, and avert my eyes. Probably steal glances as well. I might smile if she does, I don’t know. I don’t typically stare unless I’m engaged in conversation with someone.

I think staring is missed a lot because people are typically staring at their phones instead.

I actually did this more than once by accident (non-Intentional) recently whilst on public transport (some ladies were looking my way). It certainly brought up a handful of smiles. Made my day for sure!

I’m good with eye contact, but in that scenario I panic quickly lol. I would look away and look back seeing if they were still staring. Eventually I would ask why are you staring
