We met at the party, flirted for 2 weeks over texts and video calls, then met and made out. Then he disappeared for 2 weeks, and again reappeared yesterday kind of late at night, sent me a <3, asked how I'm doing. He said he was super busy with work these days, and we chatted briefly until I fell asleep. I sent him something I know he likes this morning, but it's just seen...

Oh man, that's tricky. Based on the info given, it does kinda seem like maybe it was a booty call situation. A few things that make me think that:
- He disappeared for 2 weeks both times after interacting, which is a classic booty call move of just dropping contact once the deed is done or opportunity passes.
- Hitting you up late at night like that is a normal booty call timing.
- The brief chatting until you fell asleep without making plans to meet up again gives booty call vibes too.
That said, he could just be genuinely busy with work like he says. And the heart emoji shows some care. So it's hard to say for sure either way.
My advice would be to feel it out a bit more before getting too invested. See if he follows up in a timely way and seems interested in actually getting to know you, or if the contact continues to just be late night, brief, and ditching after. Set your boundary clearly on what you're open to (just hooking up vs a potential relationship) so there's no mixed messages.
Def protect your feelings - don't get too attached too fast. But also try not to assume the worst yet either. Give it a bit more time to see his true intentions. Keep your options open for now! Let me know if any other red flags come up.
Even booty calls have better communication than this.
