We’re both 24 and were classmates in school. I had a serious crush on her back then but never properly told her while sober. After graduation she moved away, and we barely spoke for about five years.
Recently she moved back, and by a ridiculous coincidence we now live in the same courtyard. We randomly met in a store. I didn’t notice her at first — she noticed me, approached me and started the conversation. We walked home talking; I suggested meeting again sometime. She gave me her contact and said our old classmates still hang out and could invite me too.
Later she messaged me about one of those hangouts. I hadn’t known they were meeting; I got ready quickly and arrived about 30 minutes later.
That night she asked another guy to open a water bottle. He joked she had opened it herself before. While I was right there, she said:
“Well, I ran into [me], and my palms got sweaty.”
He looked at me and said, “You heard that? Well, think about it.”
I know this proves nothing and could be a joke. What gets me is that she explicitly linked the reaction to seeing me and said it in front of me.
After another group hangout we shared a taxi home alone. She paid; I offered to split it, but she refused: “You can pay for me next time.” She then asked if I wanted to stop at a grocery store with her or be dropped off at home. I went with her and we kept talking.
But she still hasn’t suggested meeting one-on-one, so I don’t want to mistake friendliness for attraction.
Girls: if you had zero romantic interest in a guy and did NOT want to encourage him, would you tell him that seeing him made your palms sweaty? Could you say that platonically? If you liked him, could it be a safe hint?
Does this sound like possible interest, or am I massively overthinking it because I already like her?
A neural network helped translate this into English; ask if anything is unclear.
