What should I do (Arab guy)?

Some months ago I met an Arab guy that I like very much. The first time I saw him was at class and I saw the way he raised his eyes and looked at me as I walked by and he kept staring at me. We soon became friends.

He flirted a lot with me and I flirted back at him, we spent a lot of time together and everyone thought we were going out; he was always smiling when he was with me.Suddenly he started to change and he slowly stop being with me and since then I don't see him smile that much. I asked him if everything was OK and he said that everything was fine.

Out of nowhere he asked me if I liked him and I said yes. I asked him if he liked me back and he never answered but instead he told me he had a girlfriend back at home, so we stopped talking to each other. However, at class, he still sits close to me and pays attention to what I say and stares at me frequently.

I was so hurt about him flirting with me and having a girlfriend at the same time. Later I read on the Internet that for arabs, usually, their parents choose their girlfriend and they have no choice, and if they have a girlfriend it means that they have to marry her.

He stares at me so much and I see him so unhappy, but I have the feeling that he likes me and I don't know if my intuition is right or I'm just fooling myself.

I like him so much and even that from the outside I keep smiling and I pretend that nothing happened, I'm so sad in the inside. I don't know what to do or what to believe.

Well,he may have a gf.

Or he saw that having a relationship with you would cause him a huge problem in the future after many years.

You should know that his family won't accept him marrying a non-arab girl Or non-Muslim girl if he is Muslim.

His family will get mad at him or even will disown him for marrying/Fall in love with a non-Muslim/arab girl.

Muslims don't date,or have sex before marriage. if they did date they won't sleep.It won't go that far with that person and this person should be an arab(middle eastern in general) and Muslim.

You better Move on and save yourself from the heartache Or stay interested and get real heartaache in the future.

I may not be arab but I behave extremely well for America's standards. I'm trying to move on but I never liked someone so much before. I like him so much and I don't even know why and it drives me crazy that he keeps looking at me and sitting close to me.

KIND OF! specially if his family are religious,where you are from doesn't matter but your religion matter.It all depends on his family.

Some families are very strict and want there son/Daughter to be with who they choose Not with who the Boy/Girl wants.He maybe has a gf,it is hard to know But sounds like he likes you but afraid of showing that.

Not all arab guys follow what their families tell them,so get to know him better to know what is his family background.

He rarely talks about his family but they seem to support him pretty much on his studies. He is kind of liberal but he also seems very proud of being arab and of doing what is right and helping others. And once he made a comment about his mom and it sounded like she was very religious and strict.

He had so many chances to tell me that he has a girlfriend and just told me after he had asked me if I liked him. For me, asking me that means that he actually somehow thinks of me. I just wish he'd have the guts to tell me if he likes me, liked me, or felt attracted to me in some way, but I don't know if I should ask

The bit about the arab guys having to marry their girlfriends isn't true. Some arab parents make their sons do that but the majority of arab guys do have a say in the matter. He seems to like you but since he has a girlfriend, you can't really do anything about it. I'm sorry :(

well I'm an arab, and what you read about us isn't that true, I mean there are arranged marriages but there are also couples who date for a while and then marry (if everything went well) and it's not always that if a guy had a girlfriend he has to marry her, some date just for fun,

but in your case I think that he really likes you but at the same time he wants to remain loyal to his Girlfriend back home, cause like there's no reason to cheat on her.

seems he is under family pressure but he likes you . He seems to be facing struggle between the familiar ( his culture) and the desirable exotic ( you ) .
