If a girl tells you she's flattered is that a good thing?

After I told her I had wanted to ask her to a dance she told me she was flattered that I wanted to go with her.

She lives about 20 minutes away and goes to a different school. I was telling her that I couldn't go to mine and that I had wanted to ask her to mine.

Hmmmmm... Well I could understand where "I'm flattered would be working against me like if I actually made a move on her. I haven't really made a big move on her yet and when I look back I don't think I was ever obvious with my feelings. In fact I feel like I can sometimes be a d*** and I feel like I give her signals that I'm not attracted.

...but if she said ANYTHING but yes, the answer is "no".

When you ask out a girl, dismiss all the other bullsh*t coming out of her mouth...and listen for a "yes".

If you didn't hear one, she's not interested, cauz frankly if she was she would've 1) said "yes", or 2) give a truly valid reason.

Any other response is her rejecting you in a cowardly way.

It completely depends on her answer. It might be that she was really taken aback that you would ask her and that she wants to, or it could be a way of softening the blow of saying no.

Well either she's not interested and is being polite, or she is saying she's flattered because its awkward when someone tells you "i wanted to do this but...i didnt" lol

well that's nice of you but maybe you should've followed that up with asking her out or saying next time or something because she was put in an awkward position and thus commented that :)

Not necessarily, normally, a "flattered" remark is followed by rejection.
