Cute guy at the grocery store. Should I ask him out?

There is this really cute guy who works at the grocery store and I think I'm interested in him. We made eye contact for a few seconds but I felt it was a bit awkward so I said hi to him. He said hi back and continued packing up stuff. As I walked passed, I looked over at him and saw that he was still looking at me. I went to the store a few days ago to try and start a conversation with him and maybe suggest we go out sometime, but as soon as I saw him I got too nervous and insecure. What should I do next time? Is it weird if I ask him to help me find something in the store?

I know people are always saying to go ahead and approach customer service workers, but honestly I really feel it's not appropriate. It makes things really awkward if that person isn't interested. Work is work. Save the flirting for other customers, until you build up a bit of a foundation with this guy. If you start talking to one another and he seems interested too, that's a bit different.

No, its not weird but at least upfront let him know you are interested before slipping him your number. Say something like "we should hang out sometime, here's my number."

Asking a guy for help in something or asking him his opinion about something is among the easiest ways for a girl to approach him. If his answers are way too short and straight to the point and if he does not ask you anything back and tries to end the conversation quickly, then he is probably not interested.

When I see someone I think I could like I generally just ask them flat out if they want to have dinner with me. It is generally pretty successful in determining if they are interested in me at all and dinner is a safe enough date that can end early or go for hours. I say just ask. What can it hurt?
