An hour is a small enough distance that things will still work out. I talked to a guy four months long distance before it was official, and we were four hours apart. Be upfront about your feelings, but not in an overwhelming way haha. Just let him know you have feelings and want to keep getting to know him once you leave. If, after you've left, you guys still like each other, then see where things go. Don't ask him what your relationship status is, worst thing you can do. Just say you want the relationship to continue to grow.
Being an hour away and in a relationship with someone isn't unheard of and in fact if you two make each other happy then go for it.
The worst thing you can do is to not ask. Us guys are not mind readers, as much as women like to believe we are. So next time you talk to him, just ask.
If you let go then you never have the chance to see what would happen if you tried - if you like him and he likes you then it will work and you might eventually make a life together.
