Guys only like me because I'm pretty?

I know this is going to sound very arrogant so apologies in advance, but I am (or at least I have been led to believe I am) very pretty. I get a lot of guys liking me and asking me out. Most of my guy friends have tried to get with me or have asked me out.

But how do you tell the difference between when a guy likes you just for your looks and when a guy actually really likes you as a person? Because I can't tell and I really don't want to go out with a guy who only likes me because he thinks I'm pretty. I feel like in that scenario we would both just end up disappointed with each other.

People tell me I'm pretty or beautiful so often, far more often than I get complimented on my personality. This really makes me worry that I don't have a nice personality and being good looking is the best thing about me, which makes me feel really terrible and insecure about myself. I don't want to spend time with people who only like me because I'm pretty because it only makes me feel worse about myself and my personality.

So how do you know when a guy likes you for YOU rather than the way you look?

You have an inner beauty that shines through physical beauty. You are a lucky woman, but you are also cursed by this. I um. I know your pain. Sometimes I want to disfigure my face so people will leave me alone. Girls come after me because of my heart, thinking I am just like every other guy and that they are "Worthy" of it. (When they are not.) That sounds arrogant, but I don't care. It's the truth. It especially pisses me off when married women tell me they love me. If they would leave their husbands, what makes me think they wouldn't leave me, too?

Anyway...

I have two advices to give you.

1. Your instincts. Sometimes it pays to ignore your heart for a while, and listen your feminine instincts. God gave you a set of razor sharp instincts, but you have to listen to them...

2. The sex test. If he loves you for your heart, if the truly wants to spend the rest of his life with you, he will WAIT to sleep with you. Period. Until AFTER marriage. Any guy who will not is only interested in your face, or body, two things that rarely lead to a lasting, loving relationship.

You will know early on if that is what he is interested in. He will be amorous, forward, aggressive. The signs will ring warning bells, and you will understand what his intentions are.

On the other hand, the man who will loves you with his heart will take the time to get to know you. Your spirit will "Click" with his, because sex is not his whole desire for you. You will know right away that he is the man you are going to spend the rest of your life with.

well I like pretty girls, and I want to have sex with them, but I only get in love of girls with a depth, I mean girls that have a beautiful soul, they have to be pretty too tho

there are levels of pretty, some pretty girls are like 8s, others are 9s and others are 10a, the 7s are OK, 6, is just like average, maybe a little sex but that's it, no relationship worth it, and anything 5 is like not even sex should be allowed.

well, yes you are goodlooking lets just assume. so no matter whether a guy likes you for more than your looks or not he is going to comment on the fact that you are stunning period. however, a guy that likes you more than looks will not a) keep repeating it over and over everytime he sees you..why? because he knows he will sound like a jerk who just wants to sleep with you. a guy who really likes you will try not to say it so much. b) he will mention other things he likes about you as well. if he doesn't..then yea he probably just likes your looks.

I maybe am not as attractive as you but I have been told I am pretty as well. however, apparently my personality is really unique and alluring and "addictive" I have been told, which is always always commented on all the time, and makes me think sometimes people are just wwith me because I'm fun and interesting to talk to rather than they find me attractive. and I know it sounds really dumb but it makes me feel insecure and bad about myself too because I think maybe they don't even like the way I look. so it happens with everyone.

try and look what pictures they like of you on your Facebook/ insta etc. do they constantly like heaps of pictures of your pretty face? or do they like pictures where you are doing fun activities and hobbies you are interested in but don't look the best in?

Most guys don't get past looks/sex with most girls so don't take it personally. You can't feel badly about it and turn it around on you because HE can't see past looks. One thing girls need to realize is that this is not 4th grade anymore. No guy is going to go out of his way to "befriend" you unless he is interested in you sexually. There is always an agenda, even with the ones who claim "Oh I'm a nice guy, I wanna be friends" they still at least THINK about it. So now you as a girl, you should not even think that guys around you are only platonic for you. If he goes out of his way to maintain a friendship with you its for a reason.

However there will be the guys who like you for your looks and who you are as a person. You can tell by just hanging out with him and spending time with him. Even if he makes his intentions known and is honest about them (instead of playing the friend game), try to build a bond with him that is more than just sexual. if he allows you to do that without pushing the boundaries and respects that, then you'll see that he wants to be with you for more than just hooking up.

I'm also pretty too and I used to think the same as you but to be honest... it seems like you should be more confident in yourself. You should be thinking "YES I am good looking and these guys DO want to date me". Its the same when a guy thinks "is this girl into my money or me?"... but I heard from a matchmaker that when a guy thinks the girl is into his money, it shows insecurity.

But honestly I am so much like you... I hate when guys are into me for my looks but I think you should just own it and be so happy that you are pretty and it does make you that much more attractive. Also, it's not just what the guy thinks but its also what you think of the guy... do you get along with him well? is there chemistry? if there is chemistry... you wouldn't even be asking this question right now... you'd be so happy in your relationship with the guy. hope I helped, think about it!

I'm used to get compliments because of my looks and how kind and warm I am. I'm not saying that out of being arrogant I'm sorry in advance.. but somehow now that I have been in a relationship for over a yr and it's my first committed relationship and I'm 30 years old as I was nicknamed like "Jane the virgin" at home and in my circle. but I'm not that not inside the box kind of woman as I do have fun and do fun like girls I'm just not liberated or into flirting or hookups.

but after a yr having a relationship with the man I love and I so want to be with this man but I'm so hurt when his reason why he loves me is because I'm beautiful and I'm kind.

in my mind why love me because it's me he wants to be with , why not the reason why he loves me because it's me the girl he want to spend life with.

but why I felt bad about his reason? in my mind I worry that what if he find a girl more pretty than me or kind also so he let me go then? I'm so hurt that I can't stop crying for days. Looks attractive initially. They are the first thing we notice about strangers, friends, potential partners etc.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say maybe you're lacking in the personality department? If there's nothing to compliment, then what are they supposed to say? Is this a possibility?

In general, personalities aren't complimented that often (except for a good sense of humor). When was the last time you ever really heard a person go on about how smart so&so is. When was the last time you ever heard a guy say "damn, she's got brains!" versus "damn, she's hot/cute"

one, if you really pretty, then there is nothing wrong with that. however most pretty women have a bad personality because they tend to be on a defensive side. anyways, any man will tell a woman (even the ugly) that she is pretty as long as he wants to have sex with her, when he tells you he loves you or like you, ask what he likes about you. if he doesn't say anything about your personality, then its all about sex. one more thing, don't give in just like that. you want someone who is going to hang on no matter the situation,

He will ask you how your day was and he will get to know you on a more intimate and personal level usually guys that only like girls for their looks will just tell them they're gorgeous or pretty and then try to have sex with them instead of getting to know them and their personality which is something my Mom always taught me to do because looks can be deceiving

Well most guys will like a girl because of her looks, that's just how it goes. But if you wanna know if a guy really likes you for who you are, its easy you can usually tell by if you guys have chemistry or not. Like you guy's conversations are easy, naturally flowing, you guys may finish each others sentences sometimes etc.

I would say when a guy points out things about you that are more about your personality. Like he says, I like the way you think, or I like that idea better that you tought of. Basically something that shows he isn't just talking about your looks. eg. your hair looks nice vs. I like the way you think.

I look at looks, but I also look MORE at personality. Because at the end of the day I need to get along with the girl.

Omg, this is like the problem I think the girl I'm interested in is having (who I've had a crush on for years). She gets complimented by everybody, makes instant friends with people, and overall gets treated like royalty. But she deserves it, because she's an awesome person. I know how it feels I always feel like guys only like me for my looks and because I'm nice. (I also have some anxiety) It always makes me question if people only like me for my looks and if that is all they see. Sometimes I wonder if people only see me as only a pretty face.
