What is the national dish where you are from?

In China there are over a billion people so the national dish is debatable. I live in Canada now and poutine is one of our dishes as well as the Caesar drink which tastes like spicy Clamato juice with vodka.

I am of chinese descent as well, and we maintain a strong chinese culture with local influences here. What would you say is your favourite from your location of origin?

Mine would have to be Wanton Noodles, Malaysian style.

I grew up in Tianjin and Shanghai and Beijing and Tia Jin specializes in this dish that is two bread shaped sticks mixed in soft egg batter and chives and hoisin sauce. In Shanghai, there is a fried breaded fish in a red sauce that tastes like jam. In Beijing there is a dish called Peking Duck where slices of duck are marinated in hoisin sauce and eaten with spicy chives in an edible wrapper made of cooked dough.

But I think the local variant here is more than probably a little different than the one in Beijing.

I am not sure. I have been in Canada for so long i get mocked when I speak Chinese cause I have a northern accent.

I think having an accent is normal. By northern, do you mean Northern Provincial accent or North American accent?

I myself speak chinese with a noticeable accent compared to anyone from mainland china or taiwan.

I’m not sure but I was told by some Chinese people I have a northern accent and I often use inappropriate terms because my experience with Chinese speakers is limited. Like I will say “murder the insect.” Instead of “hit the insect.” When I tell people to swat bugs.
