Should we eat more "meat eaters" instead of vegetarians?

Question

I noticed how most of what we consume are... lower end creatures, often vegetarians. We don't eat the animals that are meat eaters. Take Turkeys and Chickens... yea ok, they will eat almost anything, but they are low end scroungers. I'm looking for big game, like Lions...

"Wow... this Lion burger is so good and lean!"

"Try the new "McLion Burger"? Coyote, Tigers, Lions, Alligators... they'd all taste good. Bears might be ok as well. Have you ever considered raising such animals and turning them into steaks and burgers and coats?

For some reason, it's bad to think this vs killing billions of birds. Why is that? Why are these animals more special?

lol I’m guessing back in the day, it was just easier to hunt herbivores.

I think it’s just a developed man-made habit, along with the other bad habits we have accumulated/ developed.

Anyways, nowadays people keep a high penalty on the endangered species, and for the most part, dissuade anyone from hunting and eating the predators/ carnivores- they do seem more “beautiful” because of their essence of ‘power’ and humans have always just taken an eye to that.

Herbivores are seen as “adorable,” and possible to be kept as domesticated pets by larger female demographics, and some smaller male percentages, and for men in majority herbivores are used to help carry loads and toil the earth.

I don’t think carnivores have the *muscle* to keep up with hard labor, and certainly can’t walk freely in a house with kids or something.

Predators have a harder time being domesticated, and are seen as more aggressive, because what they have is known as “killer’s instinct” meanwhile, the “flight response” is stronger in the herbivores counterparts. (Easier to manage).

This (killer) instinct is a threat to- I don't know wannabe pet owners or laborers lol

and even the playfulness of these species can be received both socially and quite much more, physically, the wrong way by us humans. We feel “hunted or attacked,” when it could simply be a friendly gesture, and yet our skins are not durable to withstand their love bites/ etc.

Herbivores have softer features that are less likely to harm us, but we still need to take precaution- like with the hooves of our pet/ laboring horses, blind or not.

These social factors, dictated our engagement with the predators and prey out in the wild.

I’m sure we could be fond of the predator meat, but since they only eat meat and other factors- their skin and meat is very tough, and many would find that off-putting.

It’s possible though- to eat tough meat. Cook longer and acquire the taste for it.

For now, not many people see the need to do that, though. 🤷‍♀️

Hell no!..

Never eat secondary consumers, of food chain!..

Creatures who consume primary consumer's ( herbivorous animals) are much more like 10 times more likely to be, carrying diseases and viruses and stuff that's bound to kill you and spread like plague and pandemic..

These animals like, Snakes, crocodile, Lion, hyena, wolves , they are full of toxins, and their gut is breeding ground for Animal based Bacteria and Viruses, making new Variants every year in them.

If we consume those and one of those Viruses jumped onto survive and grow on human cells, we will be facing another pandemic!..

Most viruses transfer by people consuming such animals or having sex with such animals.. Like Pigs are also meat eaters.. But usually in farm pigs are raised on veg diet.

Also these Secondary and tertiary consumer animals have very bad quality of meat on them!

Besides the ethical concerns, here is why its a bad idea:

The meat industry is already destroying our planet, due to CO2 and methan emissions, water consumption and acres of crops being wasted just to raise a small amount of animals.
Predators and espacially apex predators will need an exponential amount of these.

Also predator meat is "loaded" with poisons and harmfull chemicals, as you go "higher" in the food chain, every little bit of anorganic element is stored and kept.

I don't see why anything that's not endangered couldn't be eaten. I understand that the meat from predators is quite edible. I read an article that talked about eating cats - bobcats, lions, etc. I also saw one about eating coyote.

There's a lot of good meat on a bear. As an omnivore they convert massive amounts of fish, berries, etc into meat.

Pork is generally accepted today but pigs are omnivores as well. Bear just needs to be cooked thoroughly in case of parasites the same way pork used to be.

Other predators may be able to be used for meat from time to time but we tend to eat herbivores because there's way more of them.

Interesting idea. But when I look up “meat eaters” I see a lot of species verging on extinction. Like lions. Maybe we should just be cannibals.

No because there are far less predators then there is prey, predators are needed to keep prey in check it maintains the balance of a ecosystem. And prevents certain species from getting out of control.

You don't want to eat predators because they accumulate toxins from prey. Read up on bioaccumulation.

I actually have had alligator once when I was down in Louisiana visiting my grandpa. It tastes a lot like steak but dryer. I could probably eat gator on a regular basis.
