China is the biggest seller of honey and exports it all over the world. The trouble is, they adulterate their honey with sweet syrups and other ingredients so your honey is not pure. They make more money that way. They get by any laws by sending their honey to other countries, like Malaysia, where it is then shipped to the US under their export license. There is also the fact that the honeybee population has been dying off, for reasons not clear. Could be murder hornets, pesticides, or lack of flowers for them to feed themselves as drought has killed a lot of crops. Your best bet is to buy honey from local honey producers and not places like Walmart.

Thank you so much for enlightening me about this, which I most certainly had no knowledge about whatsoever.
We're very fortunate indeed in having an extremely well stocked farm shop just outside our village, which sells mostly locally sourced products, including 100% pure honey which actually comes from their own apiary/beehives.
Although many items are that much more expensive, you do at least have peace of mind that everything is fresh and of the very best quality.

Yes I don't buy anything from China I love honey but I'll buy it from America it's a little bit more expensive well a lot more expensive but at least it's real honey 100%
I mean that goes to show you you can order anything you want from China and they can send you a marble and say that they wrote down the stock number wrong you might have paid $100 $200 for whatever it is you order but they can send you a marvel and you will never get your money back because you accepted the marble or they will send you maybe 5% 10% of your money back and you're stuck they can do anything they want why we don't have laws about that I don't understand but anything you buy from China you might as well figure you're going to get screwed one way or the other
Meat is much the same way too. Despite being one of the world's biggest food exporters, the US has outsourced a surprisingly large amount of agriculture for its own consumption, and a lot of agricultural land buyouts are with the explicit purpose of just shutting it down. You can draw your own conclusions as to why.
That may or may not be true. Regardless, it doesn't matter. All you have to do is read the ingredients. In the USA, regardless of what supplier it is purchased from, the ingredients must be truthful. If not a 100 honey, you can choose not to buy it and look for 100% honey.

I know that 100% of the honey I eat, has the beehives in less then 10km of my town. I also know that a lot of honey from cheap honey in shops is indeed shipped from china yes.
Maybe 80% of the honey you buy but all the stuff that I buy is from local farms. That’s the best quality you can get anyway in a honey because it’s from plants pollinated in your area so local antigens are contributing to your immune system.
When buying honey buy local. Some say you learn something new every day & as for 80% of honey I don’t know it came from China but on the other hand nowadays everything comes from China.
As for honey I buy local & if you have allergies buying local actually helps you. That's pretty interesting on the honey. I am so glad that I have family that has bee hives on their property. I love local honey. It's got great flavor that is not pasteurized it's better for you.
I didn't know that. But the honey I eat doesn't come from China for sure.
I would only buy honey from local regional bees.
I would not buy any food from China.
Yes, We knew that.
we buy from our local bee keepers. Our local farmers for eggs, meat and butter, milk.
summer time, our local farmers markets.Local honey is delicious and may provide some relief from seasonal allergies due to the small amounts of pollen in the honey.
Now you know why China is known for selling cheap stuff. They make stuff as cheap as they can.
The USA produces a lot of honey, we just don't export a lot of it... It's generally labeled where your honey comes from... The brands I typically buy are products of the USA, Canada, and Argentina.
Did you know almost everything you use and consume is from China or is part of the Chinese supply chain
I rarely buy it, but when I do, it's local. That helps with allergies.
I buy ours locally, but yeah I know most from the grocery store is not good.
Another fantastic question. I did not know that, no. But totally not surprised.
i thought you were about to ask...
Did you know that 80% of the honey you eat isn't really honey?
I don’t like that at all it should be 100% pure that’s what I expect out of honey and everything else
I know that the honey that I buy comes from an island off the coast of Maine. But it does not surprise me that the US buys most of ot's honey from China.
Go for a drive to the country and look for a true bee-honey place. Not sure where you are, Canada now has other variations
I get honey from a farm near my town so I know its not chinese but also its not 100 percent good because they feed the bees sugar. Honey is always tampered with
My honey isn't from China. It's from Vermont.
Honestly, what isn't made in China these days. I make sure to only buy American made products
