So I’m trying to stick to this healthy eating routine. Today i tried oatmeal. This is only my second time trying it this year, and its still a HELL no for me. It always smells good but the taste and texture is just so icky. It reminds me of the flakes you spit up after throwing up 🤣 Back in preschool, I LOVED green beans, black eyed peas, oatmeal, milk and hot chocolate. Couldn't stand them after preschool. I don't know what happened with most of those things but I recall puking up milk and never touched it since. And as for hot chocolate, the ring it left in the cup as you drank it always made me lose my appetite. (And no I’m not lactose intolerant.) Now I’m trying mixed nuts. As a kid I liked walnuts and pecans but cannot handle them now. They’re dry af! And I always hated peanuts. I just tried a cashew and surprisingly I like it. I then tried a hazelnut and almond. They are fckin disgusting I can't! And now my stomach hurts from trying all these nuts at once. #FeelFreeToList
+1 yI feel you, healthy eating is tough sometimes! Oatmeal is definitely gross, it's like eating wallpaper paste. I don't even know how people actually like that stuff. And nuts can be hit or miss too depending on the type. I'm the same way with peanuts and hazelnuts, blech! But cashews are usually pretty good. Props to you for at least trying to mix it up and stick to something better for you, even if the nuts didn't work out. Pizza is hard to pass up though, I probably woulda caved for that too! Don't be too hard on yourself, Rome wasn't built in a day. As long as you're mostly making healthier choices you're still doing better than just eating junk 24/7. Baby steps, luv. Maybe baked salmon and veggies is more your speed anyway - gotta find what works for you. Keep at it!

For years at a time I could only have ensure, boost shakes, mainly through feeding tube, but I’ve been trying the new flavors recently and it helps with calorie intake since it’s “meal replacement” they have Cinnabon Boost shakes now and they’re pretty good lol, I try to avoid the added sugar ones but every once in awhile if i don’t feel like cooking I just have a shake :)

366 opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. Ugh yeah, I stopped liking oatmeal because of the texture. Growing up milk was disgusting to me. The smell, the taste... now I can have a small cup of it fresh, like right after it's opened. After that I'm done with it lol everyone else can finish it. Kinda weird but hey, haha

Yes the smell of milk alone makes me puke. I always ate my cereal dry.

+1 yI feel that.. I hate Oatmeal because of the texture as well.. Always reminded me of throw up.. Same reason I hate grits.. I remember as a kid I was forced to eat the rest of the Oatmeal to go to Chucky Cheese, and I almost threw up while being forced feed it.. 😭.. But nah I have the past.. Like tuna, and scrambled eggs.. But not recently..
18 Reply- +1 y
Yes definitely throw up! I like instant grits but not homemade. Lmao eating oatmeal in order to go somewhere 😩 Sounds like all our parents. I still can't with tuna and i have to swallow scrambled eggs without chewing. I hate em
- +1 y
Instant grits vs homemade? 🤢🤢.. And yeah it was my godmother.. Stuffed that oatmeal right down my throat.. Lmao.. And I feel that.. I'm not a tuna fan, but I do like it well enough.. But I loved scrambled eggs.. 😋.. Especially cooked the right way..
- +1 y
Honemade never taste right and be too soupy, no matter if theyre made at home or at a restaurant. They just lack flavor. I love instant grits
- +1 y
Yeah, I actually can understand that.. Soupy Grits? 🤢.. Just thinking about it is giving me stuff of nightmares.. 😂.. It's the same with me and scrambled eggs, but actually the opposite of why.. They usually make them too well made and kind of dry.. And don't usually add much flavor to them..
- +1 y
Yep which is why i dont eat those either lol
- +1 y
Because they make them too dry and well made?
- +1 y
Dry and flavorless
- +1 y
Aw yeah most definitely.. The opposite of how I make mine.. Lmao..

- +1 y
My thoughts exactly. If you fry it, it tastes surprisingly good, slime no more. Of course, fried just about anything is pretty good, except for my grandfather’s freshwater catfish batter. Disgusting.
- +1 y
To be fair, I think it was mostly that it was a bottom feeding freshwater fish. Saltwater is better. But still…. bleh.
- +1 y
I hate the taste of catfish yet can tolerate shrimp and crawfish lol
- +1 y
I should clarify. Stagnant, freshwater fish. Stream caught fish, whether it’s wild or farm raised, is good. Like rainbow trout.
Have you ever skinned a catfish? They’re like made of rubber. I think it helps seal their skin because they burrow in those mudholes underwater. You ever seen backwoods boys noodling trying to pull them out of their holes? That’s why it’s illegal in some states. Sticking your hand down an underwater hole without knowing the size of the fish can get one killed.

Shrimp and lobster 👌👌👌 - +1 y
I've never been fishing
- +1 y
@DizzyDesii It’s easy, and pretty boring if it isn’t fly fishing or off the coast or on a charter boat.
Like in my folks pond, I’m efficient. I drop fish food on the water above a submerged fishnet and catch one in about 1 minute. Done and done. But it’s typically catch and release because they’re pond fish. Stagnant. Barf. So not much point, not sporting nor is it tasty. - +1 y
I want to try fishing but i dont wanna be the one to put bait on the reel nor take the fish off the hook lol
- +1 y
@DizzyDesii. Neither did my niece. So I told her to put gloves on. Then no big deal. Or else she wouldn’t fish. Then she went and called me mean Uncle XYZ. So I baited her hook…
- +1 y
Lmao 🤣 I didn't think about gloves. But in general, i can't handle trying to grab a squirming fish nor a wiggling worm
- +1 y
@DizzyDesii. Worms not so bad. Fish, yeah. Like Bluegill have spikes in their dorsal fins and can stab your hand. Fish with teeth can bite. And yeah, they’re sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Try not to think about the mucous sticking to your fingers as it separates from your skin.
- +1 y
Ok i won't be fishing
- +1 y
@DizzyDesii. Haha. Okay. If you go with someone else who does fish, take these tips with you:
Don’t pick them up by their gills or stick stringers through those gills. It’s the equivalent of pushing on a human’s rib cage making them struggle to breathe. It’s actually better to push hooks through their mouth. It does a little damage, but it doesn’t kill them. Fish will swim with hooks in their mouths all the time and they rust and fall out. It also keeps them fresh by keeping them alive to right before you leave. Like letting one sit dead in tepid water will decay quicker.
When you do pull them out of water, they’ll still suffocate to death, literal fish out of water. But it will be more humane than struggling to breathe underwater. And…they’ll be fresh when you put them on ice, which should be at the ready when you dock.
You can see if whoever you’re with knows this. Either you can impress them, they’ll learn something, or they’ll be an insecure ass if they’re intimidated by a woman who knows more than them. In any case, you shouldn’t have to touch a fish. - +1 y
Yea my dude as well as men in my fam fish often. I just never joined any of em. I don't know if i will now lmao
- +1 y
@DizzyDesii. Yeah. Killing animals isn’t something I enjoy. Its also why I don’t hunt for sport. But we gotta eat. Plus, a lot of inland fish shouldn’t be eaten anyway because of fish advisories. Best to catch and release for fun.
Like in Disney land, we baited pizza cheese and dropped it into a stocked creek at one of their resorts. These fish were swimming over themselves fighting for this juicy, greasy cheese. It was for Make-a-Wish kids and they loved it. Until it came to actually handling the fish.
It was like “Yay, I caught the fish.”. Reels it in as it gets closer to shore “Oh no, I caught the fish.” - +1 y
Oh it didn't have anything to do with killing fish. I dont agree with “hunting” but i dont look at fishing as bad unless people do it for fun rather than food.
- +1 y
@DizzyDesii So you don’t like catch and release? Even when fishing for food, it’s better to throw back runts because it’s more bone and guts than meat.
- +1 y
I dont know enough about it to really say. Im just saying i always wanted to try but you gave so many safety tips i lost interest in trying fishing 😂 I got nervous
- +1 y
@DizzyDesii. Oh. Well, you can go with your family if they’ll have you. It will probably be boring if it’s not at sea or fly fishing, especially if you’re not participating. So you may want to bring a phone, book, or whatever. I have no idea how chatty they are. Don’t listen to their bull shit if they say don’t scare the fish if you talk. That’s a load of crap. Fish are more sensitive to water disturbances and seeing dark outlines of figures (people) above the surface than people talking above the water. Maybe only the try hards want absolute silence.
I’m sorry, but I have to give you another tip. Do NOT fly fish without waders. I was absolutely stupid when I treaded into water thinking I’d be fine with just shoes and I got hypothermic even from mild temperature water rushing by my legs. My legs were red and swollen and I was shivering for hours after I got out. Stupid. - +1 y
@DizzyDesii Did you expect all this fishing intel when you asked about healthy food? 😄
- +1 y
No. My dude has been wanting me to go fishing with him and you’ve given me a whole new perspective as to why i might say no

@DizzyDesii 🤣🤣🤣 I didn’t expect that response. For what it’s worth, if my niece can do it, so can you.
