Now I'm guessing most people had this as a young child and probably annoyed their mother by only eating the yolk. But can you remember ever eating it as an adult?

It happened amidst a miasma of sour milk and moldy cheese, where the air was ripe with the pungent bouquet of decaying vegetation. I carefully selected eggs that had been left out just long enough to develop a hint of rotten egg aroma, their shells whispering tales of gallinaceous decay.
With a pan heated by the fumes of burnt rubber, I cooked those eggs to perfection - the yolks oozing like liquefied tissue from an unborn chicken, their stench mingling with the earthy compounds of boiled cabbage. On the side, I prepared soldiers made from stale toast that I had infused with the sweat of gym socks.
Dipping those soldiers into the yolks was like diving into a pool of putrid delight, each bite releasing a symphony of odors like skunk spray, decomposing flesh, and even a hint of cow manure. The aftertaste lingered like a potent blend of gasoline and ammonia, leaving my taste buds singing in a chorus of foulness. 🍳🧬👣💨
Never ever. Must be British. I like my eggs over easy mixed with hashbrowns and Tabasco. Sour dough toast on the side. Preferably with some protein mixed with eggs and hash. Never even heard of egg and soldier. I think here it's called a poached egg?
I've experimented dipping bread into egg yolk on a cruise. It tasted good but I felt like I was wasting part of the yolk in the procedure so I only did it a few times. My favourite egg is the salted egg, we usually use the duck egg for that rather than the chicken. Not sure why but it's Chinese tradition to salt your duck eggs rather than your chicken ones.
We don't have that here. But we cook eggs and then make sure the yolk is still runny if we want to dip our slices of buttered toast (triangle cut) in it. I once in a while do but I always preferred the eggs to be scrambled or I just don't eat the yolk. I like jam or jelly on my toast and not just butter.

I had two soft boiled eggs to lunch today, with a pinch of salt and a bun with butter
I don't remember... lol such an egg we call in Poland "a soft egg" I don't eat much carbs, so rather I eat without toast, but such an egg is very very tasty, so probably I have a candidate for tomorrow's lunch :D
@islathewitch. Make one for me too!
@KrakenAttackin one? are you kidding me? you would starve after one lol
@islathewitch. True... true.. so make me five 😁
@KrakenAttackin lmao, I will, but you have eat them!
@islathewitch. You bet I will!
You know , its still probably my second favorite after poached , a really healthy way to consume an egg , I still do so regularly , and so easy to make.
Never had that. Not a fan of runny yolks, so I would want hard boiled, but I could eat that otherwise. I'd rather have French toast and scrambled eggs, though.
Haven't had that but I've had egg in a basket a few weeks ago.
I'd forgotten about those, the last time I had egg and soldiers was ages ago although now I'm thinking about it I'm getting a bit hungry.
Probably as a kid, I'd sooner scramble them myself for speed
When I was a young child I often had that for breakfast
I like my eggs sunny side up or fried so I never had egg and soldiers
I have never eaten IT before. But IT looks yummy😋
Oh wow, that's nostalgic. Maybe when I was 10 or 11?
Probably never. I like my eggs on top of my bread. I have never cut them into strips before.
I am pretty sure I have never eaten that.
I don't ever recall having anything like that in my life.
I was far above as even as a young child :)
Years. The smell of egg makes me ill now
