1 yOnly cut I usually deal with that has fat on it is NY Strip. If it’s a Strip, the fat is on one side, and I sear that fat cap first to render it. Then I cook the rest of the steak in that liquified fat. That’s Flavor Country right there. I don’t eat the remaining fat on the steak, but I leave it on and just cut all the way up to it. They ain’t gonna do me like John Candy😂

1 yThe marbling on a cut of steak 🥩 like rib-eye when cooked improves the flavor immensely, but big fat pieces on the outskirts should def be removed on less premium cuts of steak. I personally wouldn’t eat it but there are many that do !

Anonymous(36-45)1 yYou mean the gristle? It's like the gristle on bacon. Do you not also eat the gristle on bacon? Personally, when I do eat steak, I get prime cut. The gristle on a prime cut is amazing. I don't eat all of it, but I like mixing it with a lean part from time to time. Never met a guy who doesn't like eating the whole thing! If they don't have health problems.

1 yI tend to cut it off. I have ever since I was a child. Never liked the texture and it doesn't have flavour like people say it does 😂

1 yI don’t like it. I remove it. Although all good steaks are marbled with fat (too lean isn’t good either too tough), and I don’t remove that. Just the big chunks of fat on the sides.

Anonymous(18-24)1 ythe only fat in steak is supposed to be marbled into the meat itself, not a separate piece on the outside

10 Reply I'll trim the excess off and generally render the rest into the meal. I think the current consensus is that saturated fat is considered healthy

1 yIf it’s soft or crunchy like bacon it’s delectable. If it’s hard and gristly it should be trimmed and fried separately
