Boyfriend didn't say I love you back last night?

We have been saying it for months now and I noticed last week I didn't hear him say it when we got off the phone. I went to see him this past weekend and he seemed distant at first but warmed up the last 2 days. He told me he loved me when I left yesterday but last night he just said goodnight babe... he didn't respond after I said love you. He tried to break up with me about a month ago when he was really drunk. The next day he apologized and said that he didn't mean any of what he said he just had way too much to drink. I know that probably has me over analyzing everything. I just don't know how to act...

Thanks. He is coming up this weekend and he kept making comments about how he wants to take me here and we need to do this sometime... I just think the break up attempt scared me.

I was originally thinking that you're worrying too much because after about a year or so of dating, you don't say I love you as much or you say it and it doesn't matter if the other doesn't say it back because you know they love you. But you said you've only been dating a few months and he tried breaking up with you! If he loved you, he would've been drunk texting you about how much he loves you, not breaking up with you.

I would take it as a pinch of salt but be a tad cautious. If it's really bothering you, speak to him about how you're feeling. After all, the key to good relationships is communication.

The drunken break up attempt was in person and the entire time he kept telling me how much he loved me. We live a few hours apart and I think he was worried that I want to live where I am forever because he kept asking where I felt like home was and then he said things like I want to be all in and do everything (live together) before the night was out he kept saying we're fine baby... we have been together for about 9 months

Please don't judge him on a day-to-day basis. That's scary for anybody. If he has said it for months, and even a day before, I think its his style, and u better get used to it. Observe his actions, and don't hang on to his words too much.

Thanks! I agree. We normally say it every night and I have notices a few times in the past week that it seems like he hasn't. I think that is what bothers me.
