Girls, why would a girl whisper in a guy's ear?

This girl leaned over me and whispered in my ear asking if she can take one piece of gum. She was so close that she almost touched my ear with her lips.
Honestly speaking that sent a shiver down my spine :)
But not sure why she whispered in my ear, when she would usually just take it or ask for it out loud.

Maybe this joke was too much from me , not sure, but suddenly I get a feeling the whisper was just... something, without it meaning anything.
